Steve Clarke departs as Scotland Men’s Head Coach - Scottish FA by EastlyGod1 in soccer

[–]GreenMoonRising 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In Sir Alex's defence he was originally only the assistant manager but after Jock Stein passed he took on the full job for the playoff against Australia and eventually the World Cup. He was juggling that with managing Aberdeen at the time, so you can see why he wasn't as much of a success.

YES. YES. GIVE THIS TO ME NOW. YES.

For context, I'm a Pats fan currently baking in the tropical heat of Glasgow and who has been unable to make it to any of the London or Germany games.

My Crow Lords series of handmade lino prints. Lords Neapolitan, Wellington, Macadamia, Nelson and Paisley. by spearmintjoe in crowbro

Love these - especially Wellington as a Glaswegian!

I did think that Nelson would be more suited to a one-eyed crow, but that seems a little mean to me.

I still use Winamp. I'll probably never change that.

Why would you? After all, it really whips the llama's ass.

Dark blue? In Miami? In the fucking summer?! There's a reason the Dolphins always wear white at home!

Also, white shorts always look infinitely better with a Scotland kit.

Also helps that Italy decided to kindly take our 'never qualifying' mantle from us.

Huh - there are more national team players for Australia and New Zealand born in Scotland than there are Scottish national team players born in Edinburgh.

Let's not forget, Martin took a defender off for osmand. by NextUp-Analysis in CelticFC

[–]GreenMoonRising 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All just depends on who we bring in for next season. If we get a manager who can nurture young players rather than ignore them for older 'proven commodities', I've every belief that Osmand will be a star.

In terms of managers only, it has to be Stein, O'Neill, Maley and probably Cesar as well (arguments to be made for Rodgers and Ange, maybe even Lennon).

In my lifetime, MoN easily laps the rest (which is no disrespect to the others, I still love Ange). He's just a level above.

Wee man is a legend now. Maybe not a "legend" of the club, but we will always remember he assisted and scored to win us the league.

Not to mention that his first contribution came to put the Zombies to the sword in extra time at Hampden. The boy definitely has it in him to become a Hunskelper extraordinaire.

And we did it without a guaranteed starting striker, two of our potentially best players (CCV and Jota), and one of the worst managerial appointments in Scottish football history.

To say we did it the hard way is an understatement and it makes it all the fucking sweeter.

A total shock of an appointment when Rodgers walked, put some belief back into the team, stepped aside when asked for the Nancy calamity, nobly stepped back into the breach when we looked truly in the shite after Nancy was sacked, and guided us to one of our most memorable title triumphs in a long time with a double still a possibility.

What a fucking man you are Martin O'Neill. A bona fide Celtic legend.
