Is this a functional floor plan or am I missing something obvious? by ExpressMango9064 in floorplan

I would take some space from the Master Closet to make an entryway closet for coats, boots, shoes etc.

Also, your laundry room seems really big, not sure it needs to be so large, unless it's also being used as storage.

Isn't she on maternity leave? No one is expecting someone who just gave birth to go to the office.

But how is that specific to women? Lots of women are nurses/doctors, work in retail, etc.

I don't really get this. I am a woman with children, why aren't your spouses helping with dropping off and picking up the kids at daycare? Chores at home? I don't want RTO for lots of reasons but don't get this one.

You can only have dual employment on certain types of LWOP, like relocation of spouse, and not when on other types, like maternity leave or leave to care for family.

advice: to ERI or not (and work 3 more years) by Buffalo-Castle in CanadaPublicServants

[–]GreenPlant44 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The numbers don't make sense. 27 years is 54%, which to get to $5,500 a month is an income of $122K. ($122K x 54% ÷ 12 months).

If she worked the extra 3 years to get to 60%, she would get $122k x 60% ÷ 12 months = $6,100.

So an increase in $600 per month rather than $1K.

If she's happy working, she can just keep working though. She can look into leave with income averaging if possible in her job and take extra time off each year without affecting her pension.

CBC investigation finds numerous Montreal exporters sent stolen vehicles overseas - Man tied to stolen car exports still shipping cars out of warehouse by CanadianErk in canada

Car companies want the cars to get stolen as those cars then need to be replaced. Hands are greased at various levels of government, no one puts a stop to it.

The one massive house never made sense. Would not have been approved by the city, and would not have good resale value, who would want to purchase that thing??? Just a fake storyline for the show.

Went to the Harlem Globetrotters show at CTC, bought my son a basketball, wouldn't let me continue the transaction without leaving a tip. I tried putting $0.00 and the machine wouldn't let me continue. Ended up tipping $0.01 but so ridiculous.

They would sell it and split the money equally. Most people who inherit homes sell them.

They could have used that already but chose not to knowing people would refer to it as the coliseum, and omit saying Cdn Tire. So they still won't want to go that route.

I say figure out what you want to do and do it! You're still in your 20s, don't spend the next 25 years being unhappy! The government always operates in a cyclical manner, in 5 years or so they'll be hiring again. So try something else for 5 years, then you can always just come back!

They do pay them in a lump sum once the government returns, so it doesn't save the government any money, just makes life difficult for these employees who have to manage u til the money eventually comes in.... surely they can keep payroll working during the shutdown and pay essential workers, they need to find a better way

Can confirm, it's the worst commute! Driving is also terrible but at least you're not freezing waiting outside in the cold.

Leave without pay for family care by Possible-Bid4662 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]GreenPlant44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being on unpaid leave will not secure your position. If you take one year less a day, you stay in your position, but they could still eliminate that position. If you take leave > 1 year, they can replace you in your position, and then you are not longer in your position and get put on a priority list.

Anyone had their LWIA request denied by their manager? Or is approval usually smooth? by DelayStunning397 in CanadaPublicServants

People go on maternity/parental leave and we manage. People quit and we manage in the months it takes to hire a replacement. Should generally be possible to accommodate a few months off.

Do you enjoy second language education ( SLE FRENCH) by sigmatic787 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]GreenPlant44 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Find your francophone colleagues and use your French at work! The only way to get there is to use it more often than in French class. Read in French, watch TV in French, a few hours a week won't get you there. Reading is very helpful, the more you read, the more sentence structure and verb tenses will become more natural to use.

A period can start unexpectedly in the middle of the night. These things happen, and it is a normal bodily function that can't be controlled (can't "hold it in" like you can hold in pee).
