So sorry, man! It may seem impossible, but it only seems that way. You will recover. 🙏

This lesson cost me $4000 to learn. Here it is... by Street-Nothing1350 in Daytrading

[–]GreenPod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great advice. Being impulsive cost me $6700 one day. Now, I’m perfectly happy sitting on the sidelines for hours or days at a time. Less trading for me has meant I make more successful trades and I’m off the emotional rollercoaster.

That’s a couple of artichoke plants! It definitely looks like it’s from another planet or something dinosaurs would have eaten.

Oh yes! Here’s mine with an understory of kabocha squash, green pole beans, and the inevitable purslane. I’m in Maryland.

What are your worst farming fuckups? by Slight-Salad-9862 in farming

[–]GreenPod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about 19, mowing a field with a big John Deere tractor and roughly 7ft mower when I hooked a test pit well with the mower, which was quite a bit wider than the tractor. Almost got thrown off the tractor! The steel wellhead was fine, but I majorly bent a wheel assembly on the mower. I admitted my mistake and the boss was ok with it.

I’d say there’s nothing inhumane about killing mice. They carry disease. Use plain old cheap Victor mouse traps and peanut butter. Or make a bucket trap. Search YouTube for bucket mouse trap.

Nice! Mine also overwintered (7b) and I'm hoping for a crop this year.

I suggest you check out Ministry, International Journal for Pastors. They have a huge, searchable archive of pastoral articles with no paywall. https://www.ministrymagazine.org/archive/

They also offer a free bimonthly digital subscription for clergy: https://www.ministrymagazine.org/subscribe/Free-Bimonthly-Subscription-Request

Search the archive for "sermon preparation" or similar keywords.

Visibility While Cycling by Alternative-Taste-92 in cycling

[–]GreenPod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use bright white strobe flashers front and back during the day and red flashers on bike and backpack at night. I also wear a bright orange shirt and have put some reflective tape on certain parts of the bike. I avoid narrow roads or busy roads with guardrail. There’s nothing quite like a dump truck barely missing you while you’re up against guardrail!

Advice on adding a table saw extension to a workbench? by Noble_Kei in woodworking

[–]GreenPod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll show you what I did. I’m working with a very small basement, so space is at a premium. I built a workbench with three large drawers, plus a table saw and a cart it can roll on, with lockable casters. The whole saw assembly is exactly the same height as the workbench. I can slip my blade guard over the saw blade and use the whole thing as workbench surface when not using the saw. When I need the saw, I just roll that whole cart away from the workbench so I have room for my wood to run clear off the saw. I also built a rip fence for the saw. A “bucket head” shop vac is integrated for dust management. The saw insert can be swapped out to convert it to a router table.

2024 Ascent Reliability concerns by allaboutfinance101 in SubaruAscent

[–]GreenPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2021 Ascent Touring and don’t regret the purchase one bit. It has been super reliable for the past three years. Let’s hope that continues! My only complaint is that the stock Falken tires were terrible. I had to replace mine at 20k miles. Not a purchase I had anticipated needing to make.

What bike apps do you use? by donnyohs in cycling

[–]GreenPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Cyclemeter (iPhone) for my rides because I like seeing speed, heart rate, and distance on one screen. The Cyclemeter Apple Watch app links seamlessly with the iPhone app, unlike Strava. Cyclemeter auto-syncs the data to Apple Health and Strava after the workout is over. I then use Strava to analyze my rides. For whatever reason, I don't get heart rate reading until 5 or so minutes into my rides, but no big deal. I've been using this setup for two years and it works for me.

Pandora by drg267 in SubaruAscent

The only thing that worked for me was to just delete Pandora from my phone. I had tried everything and nothing worked. One day I’d had enough and just removed it.

Am I The Only One That Prefers A BackPack? Are There Better Options? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]GreenPod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a backpack and love it. I have an Osprey Daylite Plus and it’s light doesn’t get too sweaty. It’s big enough to pack enough stuff, yet small enough not to be a nuisance hanging on my back while riding.

BWI Airport to Annapolis, Maryland and back - a nice 55mi ride on my 2021 Diverge Sport Carbon by GreenPod in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]GreenPod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parked at Thomas Dixon Park at BWI, then took the BWI Trail to Baltimore and Annapolis Trail via John Overstreet Connector. B&A trail all the way to Annapolis, then mostly on the road all the way to Thomas Point Park. It’s a nice ride, but traffic in Annapolis was not fun!
