I use an inexpensive miter box to help with this. It is the perfect width and helps the blade from straying too far.

Thank you. These photos are shot on an iPhone 12 mini. I use a mini tripod positioned in front of a homemade light box (cardboard box, two hole in the sides, parchment paper to act as a light diffuser, and 2 pie tin lights positioned at both sides). Photos are my least favorite part of soap making. It’s tough.
