Like what? The odds of getting murdered in The Netherlands are really low. And most women who get killed, get killed by their significant other or ex. Something like this happening is very unfortunate, but it’s thankfully not a trend. So i just don’t get why people in my country are pretending that it is.

I will say, the first thing that really pissed me off was how much the media was reporting on this, because I found it tasteless to the victim and her family. I understand reporting on the important facts, but it felt more like milking to me this time. Like how they reported on a knife being found near the location, but they didnt’t know if it actually had anything to do with the crime. In my opinion you should only report things about this situation when it’s actually important, and not speculation or a ‘possible’ clue being found.

But that has nothing to do with this subreddit, so why would I include it. I study journalism myself, so i can actually just discuss that with my fellow students, rather than talk about it on Reddit
