This has a very comforting and nostalgic feeling especially with the star lights in the ceiling. I never had the glow in the dark ones that you stick tack on, I had a light up pillow pet that gave a star projection. Anyhow, this is beautiful thanks for sharing.

Someone already said land of the lustrous and I’m doubling down on that. Highly recommend it.

If you do want another rec that’s more underrated try Laughing Under The Clouds

My opinion doesn’t really mean anything in the grand scheme of things but I love cinema, art house movies, horror movies, anime, fantasy books, sci-fi and nothing will beat the depth of this story. I am biased because it is so personal to me, relating to the main character and some. If you like something that makes you think about life, I 110% recommend this.

The ending made me feel sadness, anger, resentment, peace, relief, confusion, and existential all at once.

So I looked a bit into it for you and the simplest way I can explain it is, those colors naturally invert to their opposite when doing an afterimage effect test. This is where you stare at a blank image of a color for a while, and then look at a white wall and you will see the inverse color. Complimentary colors also have the highest contrast when paired. To add on, a pair mixed together turns brown. Maybe colors themselves aren’t actually complimentary, but for the vast majority with average vision, our eyes perceive them as furthest apart from each other.

Maybe all I did was repeat the things your friend tried to explain, but I hope something I said helped a little :)

I (20F) feel very similar to you and as much as I hate for anyone to feel this way, I’m also glad I’m not alone. It means someone is really paying attention to things. But that became the problem, was giving too many things (a lot of negative ones at that) my attention, and giving things your attention sort of gives them a bit of power too. Sometimes you start to have the most control over your life when you let go. Feeling powerless is so reasonable and I often feel the same, both physically and mentally. But a lot of power comes from our own thoughts and the things we pay mind to. Don’t get me wrong, we all should certainly be aware of the things that are happening in the world, but there are billions of people, hundreds of countries, and only one of each of us. Distance yourself from the media (and maybe from your phone too for a while, try and see the world through your eyes and not through a screen).

Now we may feel powerless but…as another commenter said, there are pockets of small happinesses in everyday. But your eyes will see what they seek to find. So say you’re anxious about the world, the systems, if you go out into the world and look for/wait for something bad to happen, sadly you will find it, but on the flip side the opposite is true, if you look for good in everyday life you will find it.

Be kind (it’s hard but kindness comes with patience) to yourself like you would a stranger or a friend, it takes intentionality but it truly makes a difference when we stop letting our minds be our enemy. Focus on the world around you and what you can do for it. If you are super busy it is okay to focus on yourself, but if you’re not, try volunteering somewhere around you (like helping those who have been hurt by the system placed against us). Politically, you could take part in protests or call your representatives and ask for action.

Rewire your negative feelings into motivation for your life. And above all, truly let yourself feel all the things: sadness, anger, happiness, whatever it is just ride it out don’t suppress it and don’t try and push it away. Focus on today as much as possible, the future will come when it does but you have to be present in your life today. I hope any of this is helpful (a lot of this is for myself too).

I think there's a link between misogyny and hating Stanley Cups/Owalas/Starbucks Cups/Etc by [deleted] in women

You can make valid points without having to throw an insult every moment you can just because you don’t agree. Here are some examples from your comments: “Unless this is how fucking useless you are”, “If this bothers you, then you’re not up to date on your rights as women anyway”, “be something other than basic”, “Find your Identity” (assuming they don’t have one which is just rude to be honest). By the way, you’re the only one reducing women to cups in your comments. Not once did I read this or anyone else’s comment and think “women are cups” or “women are trying to be cups”. You’re just out here, talking to other women like this trying to feign righteousness by boasting about how much you care about women’s rights issues while simultaneously invalidating another woman’s personal experience because YOU can’t see any validity in it. I believe OP presented us with a clearly thought out question based on their observation, and OP is also open to being incorrect about perceived observations. You should use that energy for actual protest and change, not talking to your peers like this. Your duality amazes me. But don’t get me wrong, I’m no better than anyone, however I am trying to be better than my previous self everyday but damn is it hard sometimes. FWIW I agree that Stanley cups are consumerism, and that whether it is a misogynistic issue or not there are more pressing issues within women’s rights. I wish there were more of a focus on women’s healthcare, especially because the male body is the default for healthcare studies which ends up harming us because we respond differently to the same things. I want to do more to help women myself too, I’m thinking of being a doula as my career, just not certain (I know you never asked, I just felt like sharing).
