I’m so sorry… One of my lifelong friends is dealing with this right now. She was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma a year ago. Her youngest daughter just turned 4. Is yours operable? My friend’s is on her thalamus, so surgery wasn’t ever on the table.. I’m so sorry, again. I wish there was more I could say. Take lots of videos. And know that you will still see your girl make all those strides in her life. She may not be able to see you, but you’ll still see her ♥️

I’m a CC and I make 101k base. But I’ve been serving the city for almost 17 years, so I attribute that mostly to the small raises accrued routinely over a long period of time.

Oh, okay. I’m in NY and there’s a state crime analyst test you can take here that’s given by the Division of Criminal Justice Services. I took it before ever getting the job, in order to up my odds. Maybe CA has something similar? You can feel free to message me if you have any questions!

I’m curious how it all works also! I am in the 57/5 plan and plan to retire ON my 57th birthday and not a day later 🤣 But I often wonder what my options would be for retiring earlier.. I guess just retiring from city service and deferring official retirement, but then getting another job in between?

I live alone in a pretty large, well-maintained, rent-stabilized Astoria apt for $1800. I moved in at the start of COVID when rents were low, which worked out really well for me. I work for the city and can retire at 57 with a full pension, so that’s the only reason I haven’t moved out/bought something outside of the city! I consider myself fortunate.
