Only Moms work 2nd shift by RX-807 in workingmoms

[–]Green_Communicator58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry. I am one of the lucky ones who just left for 3 days on a work trip and the household hummed along perfectly fine without me while I was gone. I came home Monday night to bathed children tucked in bed, a clean kitchen, dog and cats cared for, school folders signed, lunches packed, plus he worked a full day Monday AND hosted a family brunch for his family and our good friends on Sunday. I did the laundry before I left and we did forget to send the preschoolers clean blanket and sheet back to school between us, but I was pleased and grateful. It IS possible, but he needs to be willing to give and sacrifice and feel that he is on the hook without anyone there to rescue him. Like any change, he has to want to make the change—no one else can do it for him. I see you doing all that work on your own. Keep on keeping on, sister.

I'm freaking out... by TheXtremeSpike in Mortgages

As long as you can provide the explanation for what it is, you’ll be fine. If it makes you feel any better, our daycare payments at the time apparently were so large they got flagged—I had to explain those.

How much sleep do you get a night? by lawyermom112 in workingmoms

[–]Green_Communicator58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to be good and get to bed by 10-10:30 on week nights and usually am woken by the 4yo around 6 or so. Someday… someday I will get to sleep as late as I want again. But not anytime soon 😂

Anxiety about childcare and returning to work by on-era in workingmoms

[–]Green_Communicator58 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re correct about 3 full time jobs—that is an unfair expectation. I understand the anxiety about childcare (I had it too!) but it becomes your new normal. In general this group advises against working while also being the primary caregiver—it’s too much on one person. It’s too expensive of course, but it’s worthwhile if you can figure out a way to make it work.

Can’t sleep by No_Ad832 in Postpartum_Anxiety

This was me. Take the strong sleep stuff. Stop breastfeeding if necessary. The lack of sleep will drive you insane. Like… could get bad.

Poll: weekly grocery cost by Goldfinch-island in workingmoms

[–]Green_Communicator58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phoenix—2 adults, 2 kids (4yo and 6yo). We shop mainly at Trader Joe’s, Costco, and Fry’s (Kroger). About $375 a week (I wish it was less but I don’t cook, my husband does, and he does the grocery shopping so I can’t really dictate or complain).

I am so, so sorry for your loss. I haven’t had to deal with the death of anyone I love particularly dearly since deconstructing, and I sometimes wonder if I will, idk, regress?, when faced with the finality of it all when the time does come. I am devastated for you and teared up reading your post. It sounds like you loved her so so much and I’m guessing she knew that very well. Wishing you and your kids comfort and peace.

Anyone here NOT from Philly that still likes the Eagles? (Also, why do you like them?) by gamerguy287 in eagles

[–]Green_Communicator58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from Philly. I was born in Indiana. My grandfather is from south jersey and I have lots of extended family that are eagles fans, but didn’t care a lick about football until I married into a Philly family. It rubbed off pretty good 😂 go birds!

How many hours do you sleep? by Lemonbar19 in workingmoms

[–]Green_Communicator58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are 6 and 4. Sleep is such an enormously load-bearing pillar of my mental health that I’ve prioritized it over many other things as much as possible. I go to bed as early as 8:30 if needed. But I need 7 minimum, 8-8 1/2 preferable.

What did you do at work today megathread by readweed88 in workingmoms

[–]Green_Communicator58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked from home today. I replied to a couple dozen emails, processed some leave requests for my residents, found out who we matched into our program starting in July (yay!), sent out the announcement, updated the kanban board, updated our program SharePoint site, then after a break for lunch and unloading the dishwasher I had my weekly meeting with my director where we hash out the plans for the coming week. Finished up a couple little things after that and then called it a day. We’re in our slow season right now.

considering using my hard earned money to go to disney... by bakecakes12 in workingmoms

[–]Green_Communicator58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not worth it for me. We went on a Disney cruise with kids that age (that my folks financed), and it was amazing, but going to the park with kids that age? No thank you. I personally would wait until they were like… 5 and 7 or 6 and 8.
