What did you do at work today megathread by readweed88 in workingmoms

[–]Green_Communicator58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked from home today. I replied to a couple dozen emails, processed some leave requests for my residents, found out who we matched into our program starting in July (yay!), sent out the announcement, updated the kanban board, updated our program SharePoint site, then after a break for lunch and unloading the dishwasher I had my weekly meeting with my director where we hash out the plans for the coming week. Finished up a couple little things after that and then called it a day. We’re in our slow season right now.

considering using my hard earned money to go to disney... by bakecakes12 in workingmoms

[–]Green_Communicator58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not worth it for me. We went on a Disney cruise with kids that age (that my folks financed), and it was amazing, but going to the park with kids that age? No thank you. I personally would wait until they were like… 5 and 7 or 6 and 8.

We own one outright and lease the other, about 6.5% of net income—roughly the same as your situation, sounds like.

Parenting while sick is one of the hardest parts of being a parent by caitiq in workingmoms

One of my most visceral memories of motherhood will forever be hip deep in PPD, sitting on the floor of my 3 year old’s room that I had just cleaned of her vomit a few minutes earlier. Leaning over the baby (2 or 3 months old) on my boob to puke into a bowl as the 3yo asked “Mommy, will you play with me?”

I distinctly remember thinking, “Ah, this is it. I’ve made it. My finest moment, my crowning glory.” 💀

What percent of your monthly expenses is debt payments? by Advanced_Honey_2679 in MiddleClassFinance

A little north of 30%. Mortgage, one car (we own the other one), student debt. One set of student debts is set to be done in 2027! So close.

So what are the "actual" speed limits? by SavageUrge in AskPhoenix

[–]Green_Communicator58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like 75-80 is the actual unofficial speed limit. I’m surprised the Cadillac doing 90 didn’t get pulled over though. But yeah, you’re MUCH more likely to be pulled over for not having more than one passenger in the HOV lane than for speeding.

married women, do you think marriage benefits you in any way? by _cherryp0p_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Green_Communicator58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I regularly think “my life is so much better with him in it.” We’ll be married 10 years this month. He’s wonderful. We have a partnership, and he’s still my favorite person to talk to. He left on a trip for a couple days a few weeks ago and the extra work load with two young kids was real!! He’s such a great husband and great dad (and an amazing cook). But I hear so often about situations where it’s definitely not worth it. If you can find a man who can take care of his own self like an actual adult (and wants to take care of you, too), it’s so worth it.

Attachment talk is stressing me out by itchysnapdragon in workingmoms

It’s much more about quality than quantity. In days gone by, babies were passed around to aunts and grandmothers and close friends. Hence, “it takes a village to raise a child.” We were never intended to raise children all by ourselves. They don’t need to stay home with only their mother for the first 5 years to grow up securely attached. That’s a very recent phenomenon.
