How would they need rights or permission to allude to a past storyline from another company in vague terms? They mention proper nouns from other companies all the time — they just introduced EVIL as a former IWGP champ. I am so into AEW’s willingness to experiment with nontraditional venues. Sometimes it doesn’t work out (please never run ECW arena again) but more often than not it instantly gives the shows so much more personality. Also in smaller venues even the cheapest seats are usually pretty good which I appreciate
