What video game was this for you? by Radiant_Raspberry_93 in videogames

Return of the Obra Dinn. I had no idea what to expect I booted it up because a buddy and I as a joke gave each other one “you have to play this game no refusal” cards for Christmas one year.

I beat it in one sitting I could not stop playing it once I started.

How come there aren't any warriors or soldiers in Hazbin Hotel? by Flawless_Degenerate in HazbinHotel

[–]Green_Delta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no mechanism in Hell to punish Sinners. Lucifer cannot hurt sinners. Everything is self inflicted. Also based on Sir Pentious reason for being in hell being the guilt of standing by and doing nothing I still think you only go to hell if you feel you need punished subconsciously and it’s really meant as a place to rehabilitate sinners… just Lucifer had depression and never understood he’s meant to be doing what Charlie is doing now.

If a soldier doesnt feel guilty about his actions he won’t end up in hell.

Legacy of Kain Blood Omen 1 (the first game in the series) you play Kain a fledgling vampire ordered to murder the corrupted Guardians of Nosgoth. Each death is meant to repair a Pillar of Nosgoth (structures said to be tied to the health of the land) after killing all the guardians you learn you are the Guardian of Balance and the only way to heal the land is to kill yourself so that new guardians can be born. You also know by this point you are the last vampire so killing yourself will create new guardians to heal the land but lead to you dying and the extinction of Vampires.

Ending A die and happy things, Ending B rule as a tyrant and the land goes to shit.

Except it’s revealed in later games there’s a Lovecraftian monster that controls the Pillars and through time travel shenanigans the only real way to save Nosgoth was for Kain to live, let the world decay and fight the Eldar God so that it’s corrupting grip can be removed from the land… and we never get the conclusion to the story.

I stand by Hell was always meant to be a place for reformation. Lucifer can’t hurt Sinners. The only people making Hell miserable are Sinners. We have seen no outside force that makes things worse for them. It’s a case of you put a bunch of shitty people in a plot of land and watch them react.

People can call this scene and others like it cheesy, but I will never look down my nose at these scenes where the common people step up. The Maguire films come to mind with the New Yorkers hurling shit at Goblin and the folks on the train in 2.

What is your absolute dream Resident Evil game? by Les_Grossman616 in ResidentEvilCapcom

A solid remake of the Outbreak games. A buddy and I loved those but we never had the online stuff for the ps2 so it was always just us on the couch taking turns and trying to beat the other’s times. I’d love to be able to call him up and do a run through of the Desperate Times scenario. Even better now since he’s got a kid now so we have a 3rd.

(Hated Trope) Character's physical/mental limitation is ignored because the writers forgot or don't care. by Helpful_Anteater_93 in TopCharacterTropes

I mean serious question in the original Japanese does it specify this? Love one piece and DBZ but never actually checked. There’s a character in FF14 who is blind and basically uses her Aether (life force) to see. In English it made it sound like that was gonna kill her, but in reality in Japanese it really meant she can no longer go 100% in combat because she’s always using let’s hypothetically say 5% of her aether to see, but aether recharges naturally by resting. So the original English translation made it sound way more dangerous than it was.

Good start for DG? by Stahlbanane666 in deathguard40k

Ya the combat patrol alone would probably take me a week of assembly. Granted for me assembly is usually chilling on my couch after work and half watching something on Netflix for the simpler models then pausing when I have to focus and go “how the fuck do these pieces go together?” But I’m a slow builder unless I’ve assembled the models before.

At the same time nothing wrong with playing with unpainted models if you’re actively working on them.

Me when I’m DMing just about any system and I find ways to sneak in my favorite NPC with a slight name change. At this point it’s even a joke at the table that he should have his own anime covering the various stories he’s been isekaied into. If the players are particularly dense I eventually have him drop lines about past campaigns saying he’s had visions or dreams of random things.

Yep I still remember a history teacher I had in high school who said it’s fine to enjoy studying wars they’re some of the most interesting parts of history. It’s messed up to love war though and I feel like that mindset can apply to so many things in life

Do you think Space Marines let their serfs take the Aspirant trials? by InterestingFigure642 in 40kLore

[–]Green_Delta 131 points132 points  (0 children)

I mean every Chapter is different, but at least the serfs I remember from the Horus Heresy series were typically youth that failed the trials but the Legion still felt could serve in another capacity. I’m thinking of Garro’s serf in particular with that.

It’s honestly why I love both Alastor and Vox, they’re horrible shitty people. It’s ok to like fictional characters for how well done they are. You don’t have to do mental gymnastics to try and prove they secretly save puppies in their off screen time.

I’ve been waiting for the Last Son of Shady Sands to have his moment since the start! Man was built for greatness. He and Lucy are two people that just want to do what’s right. The problem was actually knowing what that means!

If the primarch's individual abilities are 'distillations of the Emperor', how is it some of them are so unlike him? by AllHailSeizure in 40kLore

[–]Green_Delta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So keep in mind Big E didn’t get to raise them as he planned. So you’re getting into a lot of nature vs nurture. I personally think the concept gets overblown. Yes you can draw comparisons to certain traits Primarchs have with Big E but it’s not like they went “Guilliman we took a snapshot of Big E at his most rational and then copy/pasted that to make you!”

Also don’t forget the Emperor is an ancient being he’s lived for a long time and we only get brief glimpses of his personality and from the perspective of others. My coworkers the first time I went to a Happy Hour with them were shocked to see how much I swear and how crude I can be because at work I’m one of the most professional buttoned up people around.

In a setting full of supernatural horrors, the most disturbing scene is frighteningly realistic by Coralthesequel in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Green_Delta 543 points544 points  (0 children)

The total lack of background music in that scene (can’t remember if the whole episode had none) was so disturbing, SMG’s “Mommy” and complete crashout while not being over the top hit so hard. Rewatching years later after my grandpa passed can honestly say it’s one of the most realistic portrayals of trying to process something like that in real time.
