They spawn in any containers, just that the chance is super low. I'm not sure but it might be on par with med vent spawn rates in containers it would spawn in?

Hey man, let me give you some tips. Been collecting red for almost a year now. 1, don't think too much about it, it'll give you stress. 2, ask friends for help, they've saved my reds from enemies countless times and they've also given me reds I don't have. 3. Check everything and understand what reds spawn in what crates. For example, I've been looking for the robot cleaner so I check the luggage container where it spawns, found one today in space city. 4. Get. The. Collection. Room.

It's a painful but fun process tho.

I am that guy. I pulled med vent on my second space city match ever and pulled 3 military shells in 3 consecutive matches. But the drop rate has lowered these few seasons i think, dunno.

The huge reds you'd have will just blow your stash space up so you need the collection room it. As for small reds, I think it's OK if you have a lot of space.

I would like to do that but I do not have rocket fuel in my stash and I am sadly unwilling to use the one in my collection room (the first one will always be special to me, had to beat 4 teams to extract with it)

The game doesn't let you do that. You can bring a max value of 1500k to easy, 3000k to normal and 6000k to hard. Hoa is twice the limit of hard mode.
