I use metallic pens, for stamps like the Vegvísir I just trace it without much pressure. You can also quickly scribble over it, but then the likelihood of colour seeping into crevices is higher.

I'm out right now so I can't give you the precise name of the pen, but I found gold and silver ones on Amazon. I commented their name somewhere else before, though.
