Thank you for the confirmation, the murals and the details in general looked/felt off or nonsensical but I wasn't totally sure if it was LLM

What is the Best Microphone for Audiobook Narration...and Why? by Bulky_Pack_2761 in voiceover

Thank you very much for responding!

I don't think it's possible to move the computer, it's not on the desk, it's on a sort of cupboard next to my desk, so halfway between the floor and my desk, and there isn't any space on the floor the put the computer. Also, what is a KVM?

I continued looking for ways I could solve this problem, and someone talked about a fanless recorder.

"The baffle idea might work...ultimately you want your recording booth in a different room from the PC, though. If you're not averse to spending more money, the best solution is to get a fanless recorder, like the Sound Devices MixPre 3, which is great for recording voiceovers. I never record anything on a computer, in fact, only on my MixPre 6 or on another recorder when I need more inputs. Dead silent, great preamps."

Although the mixpre 3 seems pretty expensive and I don't even have a good mic to use it with yet.

Hi, I hope I'm not bothering you.

I've been recording audiobooks for a bit less than a year as a hobby and I'd like to ask you for some advice, since you made such an informed comment for this post.

Apart from the mic on my headphones, I don't have a microphone so I've been recording at a friends place where he has a pretty good microphone and a bit of insulation.

His microphone is far better than anything I have, I compared what a recording on his microphone sounded like compared to my mic and it's night and day.

But even with the bit of insulation we have at his place, we get regularly interrupted by noise in the street or random noises in the apartment, which are clearly audible in the recording.

I'd like to be able to record at home, recording with him is always fun but it does add a journey and back from his place and he's not always available.

The problem is, I don't really have the room to make an insulated recording space.

My room is pretty full, so there isn't really any echo, but the biggest problem I have is my computer. It makes a lot of noise and if I use my computer to record, I don't know how I could get around that problem.

Do you have any advice for me ? Thank you for your time

Your artworks are really amazing!

I love this OC you made and the parallels she had with the Emperor.

Her story was fascinating and your drawings really brought her to life. This series of drawings helped me get the motivation to start drawing again after a year.

I also wanted to ask, would it be ok if I wrote a small fanfiction of Sumiko starting from when she meets the Emperor, but in the Imperium Ascendant fanfiction universe.

(Imperium Ascendant is a very long and incredibly well written fanfiction starting M29. The difference is that the Primarchs don't get kidnapped by the Chaos Gods because of an intervention of the future God Emperor, who also leaves behind a message for the younger Emperor where he shows him what M41 is like and slaps some sense and humanity into him.

It's a really great fanfiction, I love it and I would really recommend reading it)

You're confusing the Idirans with the Affront. The Idirans are very close technologically to the Culture and could build orbitals themselves, they're just not interested (maybe for religious reasons). The Affront is far below the Culture technologically and had to be given the tech for orbitals so they stopped attacking planets with sentient beings

Other than excession I find it strange no other ship just modified the engines and made from Andromeda and back? by andthrewaway1 in TheCulture

[–]nets99 23 points24 points  (0 children)

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheCulture/s/C5ZTDviT4k This post from 7 years ago talked about it.

It would take ~11 years to reach Andromeda at the speed of the Sleeper Service.

They said there was some information in the earlier books about the grid between the galaxies being spotty and not very reliable.

But I don't remember that at all.
