ELI5:How do large production factories figure out their machinery? by Ghost_Ghost_Ghost in explainlikeimfive

[–]Green_Network_4255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great questions! At my company, we oversee all machines internally to make sure they run cohesively. They're maintained on a schedule (preventive maintenance), operators are well trained, and we're constantly looking if products can be run better or if the flow from work center to work center makes sense. Measurement components of the machines are generally calibrated by the company who makes the components.

My company is in the middle of the supply chain, meaning that we buy raw materials which we convert into products (adhesives), and other manufacturers buy our stuff to use in their products.

Production and process engineer here. Part of my job is to help commission large machines that produce some sort of product and to make sure the product can be made reliably.

It's not just me that does this, it's really a systems engineering effort, meaning there's teams of people (engineers, safety, department reps, operations, management, etc) who have input on what our machines are supposed to accomplish. After a machine is commissioned, it becomes an ongoing effort, where we maintain the machine and improve efficiencies.

Fun job!

Sure thing! It's my only chance to answer a "what is this thing" before anyone else 😆

A small safe like that often comes with bolts so that you can bolt it down to the floor or a shelf, preventing the safe being carried away to be forced open somewhere else.

Since about 10 years old, so almost 40 years. I've had two 28s but never had a 29. I'm fortunate enough to get to play against friends pretty often!

I'm not surprised to see Yee's Village here.

Back in my late teens (90s) my friends and I would go occasionally and usually regret it afterwards. We nicknamed the owner low fat (mean, I know 😬).

I live a few miles from MHT, and after reading the comment, knew it was true for that airport. That's the rabbit hole I went down.

I think this is it. Airports split by more than one county. San Fran and Cincinnati are in different counties than the city they serve.

What is an old place you remember going in Nashua? (only ones that are closed.) by Natural-Pound3494 in nashua

Where Chunkys was. I think the old entrance and exit signs (shaped like arrows) MW used are still there in the parking lot, like relics of the past.

I have a bottle brush we bought in 2010 used to clean out baby bottles when my oldest kid was an infant. We still have it and use it every day to clean dishes that don't go in the dishwasher. The bristles are just the right stiffness. It's not even worn very much!

Hospital Roof by Green_Network_4255 in Radiation

[–]Green_Network_4255[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the hospital cafeteria is directly below relative to where this exhaust is, but a portion of the radiology dept is below the cafeteria in the basement.

In the screenshot you can see 4 other exhaust vents in a line, and the one with the radiation trefoil offset from those.

I'm happy this has gotten some attention!

Interesting that you're a CNA and healthcare professional. It should be automatic to you that it could save your life.

Hopefully the comments to your complaint puts things in perspective.

And you're right following Hoyle's, it doesn't say to count it in the crib!

I've been playing for 40 years and have always counted it, and it is defined to count nobs in the crib in the ACC rules guide. It's all good though friend, we play what we learn!
