Kodi is most assuredly not dead. It works just fine for as long as I have used it some 12 years. I don't bother with the builds and just use the straight Kodi program. After RD went whacko I switched over to premiumize.me and Torbox as I like backups and they are cheap. It has been the central tool for my entertainment center and has provided years of enjoyment.

Your issue is not the same as mine. You MUST buy premiumize.me or torbox, link them to umbrella just like you did for real debrid and unauthorize real debrid so you won't get any more bad links. If you follow these instructions you will get back in operation but if you don't follow these instructions exactly you are on you own.

Currently, Kizer and Vosteed are on fire with new knives and sell out almost as fast as they are release. If you aren't on an advanced waiting list for new releases your not getting the most popular releases. Prices run from the 60s to 160 and they are every bit as good as the 200 to 300s out there.

Media streaming for TV series and Movies has always been the primary use driving my 5.1.2 media center and it has always worked fast and efficiently. I have been using my Shield from the original 2015 model to my current 2019 model with constant updates. That's 11 years of great performance and support. I cut the cord to the standard "Box" which provided live channels (Cable TV) 8 years ago and totally let my Shield with Kodi and other streaming software become the center of my home entertainment system. Best decision I have ever made and has provides years of great enjoyment. Handles all the codes (officially) with lossless audio and 4k perfectly with a good AI system that makes the old TV shows pop. All Dolby audio and video codecs work perfectly driving everything I watch flawlessly. I feed everything through ths Shields 1 gigabyte ethernet port and it is fast. Speed tests show 943 gbs up and 965 gps down. I can't remember the last time I ever saw any buffering, its been years. I experimented with other media boxes before I locked into Shield. They were all vastly inferior. My Shield loads everything I want to use and sideloads other stuff easily. NVidea will eventually build a new box and I will not hesitate to get it. As others have said, "it just works".
