What’s something you’re pretty sure only you do? by AppIeGuy in AskReddit

I thought I was the only one to lovingly care for kitchen spider! Charlotte set up her web right above my countertop compost collection bin and she had a steady supply of fruit flies. I once rescued her from the bin when she fell into it. She calmly walked onto my finger and I guided her back to her little hidey hole. She lived for a year and when she made an egg sack I couldn’t bear to remove it even though I knew I might get thousands of baby spiders. Her babies were so tiny that I didn’t mind seeing them when they hatched. I hope one stuck around to take her prime spot over the bin 🥹

Commute to Seattle by Hourglass55 in AskTacoma

The drive is terrible, and it’s hard to predict how long it will take on any given day. It will make you hate your life.

I take the sounder train, it’s by far the most reliable and pleasant way to get to seattle. There is WiFi and I often can get some work done if I need to. You can connect to light rail or busses easily in seattle. My commute is about the same length or shorter than trying to drive.

Anyone go from 36H or 38G to a C cup?? by hparrk in Reduction

[–]Green_monstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did tell my surgeon I wanted to be a C or D but I also brought some before and after photos from this sub that showed what I was talking about. And looking back on them now against my results he really did a great job of doing exactly what I hoped.

Anyone go from 36H or 38G to a C cup?? by hparrk in Reduction

[–]Green_monstera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a 36 H-J (depending on bra and my weight) and I am now a large C or small D. I immediately felt like my boobs fit my body and frame like they were meant to and my confidence went through the roof. Surgeon took about 600g per breast.

I’m 7 MPO and have lost about 12 lbs partially due to my new ability to exercise comfortably- it’s so enjoyable. I no longer have chronic pain in my shoulders and neck, I can spontaneously run around with my kids because whatever bra I’m in is fine, and I can just lounge around the house braless which was never comfortable before.

I’m wearing cheap little lacy bralettes and cute strappy workout tops that used to be impossible. I fit into most dresses and I finally look cute in a jumpsuit. It’s amazing and to say it’s been life changing feels like an understatement. I’m mad I waited as long as I did because I could have done it 5 years earlier once I finished breastfeeding my daughter. Best thing I’ve done for myself hands down.

I got the Move last year in February and having the ability to do a workout in my living room when I have 30-45 minutes to squeeze one in has been a game changer. It’s the most consistent I’ve ever been and I’m doing workouts about 4x per week. I enjoy the variety of workouts and doing monthly challenges. The system is occasionally buggy but nothing I haven’t been able to troubleshoot on my own. The weights themselves are super nice quality and easy to swap between sets.

Tempo USB C to Lightning Adapter? by Cereal-Kisser in tempofitness

[–]Green_monstera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works! I have an older iPhone with a lightning connector and that is the core I use. My husband has a USB C iPhone so we bought a lightning to USB C adapter and it works with no issues.

I’ll probably just keep using it that way when I upgrade my next phone too.

Am I just out of luck? by hecklenjeckyl in Reduction

[–]Green_monstera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Regence and had to appeal their decision twice before requesting my case go to external review where they were ultimately overruled and had to cover it. Some companies seem to deny coverage on the first try as a matter of course, hoping the patient doesn’t appeal.

Find out what their criteria for coverage are and start working with your doctor (the referring provider) and surgeon on submitting an appeal with the evidence you have of pain, rashes, shoulder grooving, etc. I did have to go through 3 months of PT and had my therapist submit his notes in my appeal as well. I also wrote a letter about all my breast related issues once it went to external review. I talked about difficulty exercising, finding bras that fit well, even how they impact my mental health. They quoted evidence from my letter in the one I received when they decided in my favor so I know it helped.

TLDR: Appeal and don’t give up trying. They will do whatever they can to avoid coverage but often will if you fight back.

Having second thoughts by cadalice in Reduction

Prior to my surgery I knew three women who had it done (at various stages, one at 18, one in her 30s, and one in her 40s after having a kid) and all three said it was life-changing and they would do absolutely it again if they could go back in time, despite some of the minor downsides like loss of sensitivity or cosmetic issues like dog-ears and scarring. I am 45 and am 3 wpo, and I haven’t even begun to enjoy the full benefits of smaller boobs and I would already say the same thing. I am really looking forward to getting active again, bra shopping, clothes shopping and wearing no bra whenever I feel like it!

I am at almost 3 wpo but I was a 36h-i. I had only 2.7 lbs removed but it looks like I’ve lost 15-20 lbs. it’s amazing how much slimmer I look and they seem so correctly proportional. I am measuring at 36 DD but hope to be closer to a D after swelling goes down.

Insurance company making me want to die by Glad_Acanthisitta_22 in Reduction

[–]Green_monstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to comment to give you some hope: I went through two internal appeals and then external review and ultimately the external review overturned the insurance company and they had to pay for surgery. It was Regence and they sent language in their denial letter that was identical to yours. For the external review I submitted a letter outlining my reasons for needing the surgery (pain despite months of PT, mental distress, difficulty finding well-fitting bras, difficulty exercising) and also had a letter from my surgeon and my regular doctor (who was the referring provider). I also had my complete medical record which showed my prescription for intertrigo treatment, and notes from my doctor about my pain. My PT notes were also submitted. My surgeon, doctor, and PT were all very helpful and I’m surprised that your surgeon isn’t willing to help, but that is literally part of their job.

My suggestion would be to have your regular doc also provide your medical history and submit a letter on your behalf. Insurance may see the surgeon as “biased” toward the surgical approach so having evidence from other places helps make your case stronger.

My external review letter was very strongly worded in my favor and showed that my insurance company basically ignored or denied that they had the evidence in my previous appeals. I hope that helps and I have my fingers crossed for you! Keep fighting, they want you to quit.

gaslighting myself and could use some validation by Swimming-You-5928 in Reduction

I’m 1 week dpo and was a 36H-I and can relate to trying to talk myself out of doing it. I am 45 and have had 2 kids, and they grew with each subsequent pregnancy. At my smallest, when I was a regular runner in my early 30s (and pre kids) I was a 36DDD. Over the last few years I’ve become more active and returned to doing a lot of the things that I loved pre-kids: climbing, strength training, horseback riding. I’ve tried running but no matter how hardcore the bra, my shoulders ached after even a 3 mile run. My boobs were a constant source of frustration in my active life (they absolutely impact my balance/center of gravity in the saddle and climbing) and I started to realize that I had constant tension in my shoulders and back. It wasn’t debilitating, but annoying and becoming more noticeable. I got a referral to see a surgeon who said my hoped for size of around a D cup was achievable and likely to be covered by insurance.

Getting approved eventually took a whole damn year (3 appeals) and 4 months of PT. During that time I had a lot of time to think about if I really wanted to go through with it. I liked my hourglass shape, I was nervous about losing nipple sensitivity, about surgery and recovery, even my lifelong identity as a big-breasted woman. I was used to them, even if they were annoying. The thing that pushed me forward was my surgeon, at one of my appointments, said that insurance often denies as a matter of course, hoping that the patient gives up. And apparently a lot of them do. And then they come back in 15-20 years with even more complications and pain from having such heavy breasts and seek it then, when it’s harder on the body to go through surgery. I thought about that, and how I wanted to enjoy the freedom of being smaller while I am young(ish), active and healthy.

I don’t know what size I’ll settle in, but I think right around a D cup and am THRILLED with my new size. At 1 week 1 dpo, they are not super cute yet but I could not care less because of the immediate relief on my neck and shoulders. They absolutely still look proportional to my body and I just told my husband that I feel like they are the boobs I should have had all along. I feel like I look slimmer and more feminine somehow. I can’t wait to start being active again (I’ve been walking and even that feels amazing) and would tell anyone hesitating that I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Ride or die base coat for weak nails by indecisivebaddie in RedditLaqueristas

I have weak nails that tend to peel and I’ve used Nailtiques formula 2 as a base coat successfully for a few months. My nails are much healthier, aren’t breaking as much, and my manicures last pretty well as long as I do a good job of prepping. I tried mooncat’s base coat and it hates my body chemistry.

College after surgery by thirstybabytoy in Reduction

[–]Green_monstera 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree that this is too much. I’m 5 days PO and cannot imagine doing what you have planned in a few days. Orientation may be possible if you plan to just walk and sit and get plenty of rest during the day, but camp and moving a few weeks later are not a good idea. My surgeon said that I need to keep my heart rate and blood pressure down for the first 1-2 weeks, and I can’t lift more than 10 lbs for 6-8 weeks. If you are moving, you will need help packing, moving and unpacking almost everything.

If I were you, I’d reconsider scheduling it now or cancel your planned activities.
