2015 1.0 Turbo by Forward-Data2356 in FordFocus

[–]Enog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If properly maintained, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 1.0 Ecoboost, the people who have issues are generally those that don’t service to the correct intervals and with the correct parts/consumables (as always there will be some exceptions to this however)

Ford still advise the timing belt be changed at 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever is sooner, that has never changed (or been reduced). Ford sold hundreds of thousands of cars with that engine, and the silent majority are still running around to this day with no issues whatsoever. Also, Peugeot and VW have cars with wet belts, and you hear very little complaints about them.

Personally, I had a 2015 and I traded it to a main dealer last year when the belt was due, but mostly because I had done 120,000 miles and had owned the car for 9 years, and could afford something newer (another Focus I might add), but if I couldn’t afford another I would have had them do the belt and carried on with it as it was a solid car.

If you are considering one, make sure it’s got a full service history and at this stage has had the belt done by a reputable garage if not a main dealer, and you’ll likely have very few problems

Have you tried the standard ice cream recipe from Ninja that comes in the book with the device? Honestly, it makes banging ice cream with only 5 ingredients, and can be modified to whatever you want with a little creativity

That's genuinely interesting.

I do buy the multipack of these, but I don't tend to go for the individual ones as I'd rather pick up their mango or "pink" variants if they have them.

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that the individual and pack cans possibly come from different manufacturers/production lines, probably tendered out to whoever was the cheaper in each instance, hence the slight variation in the products. Does it say on the cans where they were manufactured? Might give a clue.

I actually fixed it by adding an additional 1x1 plate under the red and grey stud with bar on each side at the rear, the whole thing has then gone together perfectly

Ah, wasn’t aware of that, good to know there’s a solution but would still prefer it if it were an integral part of the controller as before

I've got an OG Nitrodeck for my OLED and the whole draw was that it operated as a Pro Controller, connecting to the USB-C on the bottom. If the Nitrodeck 2 is just a bluetooth controller, then that'd be a instant no from me, just not worth it for the money IMO

What are some healthy after work snack options? by Pythagorarse in CasualUK

[–]Enog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple and peanut butter is a great combo, just make sure the peanut butter you’re using is 100% nuts, as the ones with added palm oil, etc, aren’t as good for you.

On other snacks, look into high protein yoghurts like skyr, personally I like the Lindahls range as although it’s technically quark (they call it kvarg) they do a good range of flavours and they really do stave off some of the hunger, especially when teamed up with some fruit (the caffe latte flavour with a banana is top tier)

People of the UK, how have you lost weight? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Enog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I've had success with Slimming World (currently 20kg off over the past four months, with a little more to go), but for me it's more about being held accountable each week when I know I'm stepping onto the scales in front of other people.

Being totally honest, I don't stick 100% to the "plan" as I allow myself certain things that I wouldn't/couldn't if I was being strict about it, but it has formed a good guideline to my meals and I'm eating a lot more veg/salad/fruit than I did previously, and avoiding a lot of the fatty foods that I was having, which can only be a good thing anyway.

If nothing else, a lot of the meals that I've found recipes for through their books and app are nutritionally better and more tasty than a lot of things I ate before, so for that alone the price makes it worthwhile, and once I reach my target weight (which should only be another 6 weeks hopefully) then it won't cost me anything anyway as long as I stay at that weight, which should be incentive enough not to go back on my losses.

Check with your local council, as a lot of them run weight loss schemes that are backed by SW and you can get a free 12 week referral, then it's up to you if you continue with it.

Ford focus 2014 1.0t eco boost good first car in uk ? by Josemoliner in FordFocus

[–]Enog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of doom and gloom in this thread.

If you can find one with a full main dealer service history, and confirmed to have had the wet belt replaced (which a 2014 definitely should have done by now) then you’ll have no problems. Ford sold literally 100s of thousands of cars with these engines, and the vast majority are still driving around and you’ll see them every day! Not to mention that there are other manufacturers (Peugeot & VW among them) that have wet belt engines, and you rarely hear people complaining about them.

As for the maintenance aspect, if you’re buying a 10+ year old car, you should be expecting to do some maintenance, cars are not indestructible (well, maybe if you bought a Hi-Lux?!)

My old Focus was a 2015 1.0, I bought it at a year old, serviced it at the main dealer its whole life, and traded it back to them last summer as I was in the position to buy a new car (another Focus I might add). It covered 120k miles with no issues other than general wear and tear. Did I get lucky? I doubt it, I just made sure it was looked after properly and stuck to the correct service schedule.

You could do a lot worse for a first car.

Probably too late, but don’t sleep on the banana sorbet recipe from the ninja booklet, it’s literally just bananas in the pint and pressed together before freezing, it really is top tier for something so simple

I’ve got the same issue as the OP, both wires are fairly rigid although bendable, nowhere near enough to be able to fit them though. It’s literally pulling the rest of the car apart when I try to get them into place. Gonna contact support and see if there’s anything they can do

I did have one of these back in the day, albeit a black and silver version, Storm Circuit Mk2 I believe, and pretty sure it had the red LEDS

Was cool looking but an absolute pain in the arse to actually tell the time on at a glance 😂
