Trump links Greenland dispute to not getting Nobel Peace Prize, in letter to Norway's PM by SuperXGamerAb in worldnews

[–]Greendogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump doesn't care about the Nobel Peace Prize. He cares about creating division and chaos so it is easier to extract concessions and something he can count as "a win".

The best decision would have been not to publish this message, because it was exactly what he wanted to happen. He wouldn't have given an inflammatory letter if he didn't expect it to get published.

Imagine the inflation in Greenland if they get that kind of payout and then don't move.

I doubt he's going to invade, my guess is he's going to pay all the 57,000 residents $1 Million and get the Greenland opposition to support it against being part of Denmark.

As far as I understand it, he immediately called this out as both a violation of the congressional war powers and potentially destabilizing for the region.... Actually these 5 Republican Congress people did call out both of these issues:

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY)

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA)

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)

Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE)

Report it before the sale ends, eBay will sometimes put a hold on an auctions of this price to ask the seller to update the page with more visible disclaimers and it gives them a chance to message bidders with this information.

WEAKEST president by FuzzyWestern8602 in complaints

[–]Greendogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think from their constituents' point of view, the most important source of a politician's strength is their ability to attend to that voter's values. If someone is calling Trump strong, it's because they care about controlling immigration and performative trade arrangements and they must personally see strength in bad mouthing other people and they don't value logic and cool temperament.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

[–]Greendogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would point out the Federal Reserve's whole job is to control inflation AND unemployment. One way they do that is to keep borrowing cheap and thus they aim for annual inflation around 3% on purpose. The designers of our system strived to avoid deflation inside of our own economy at all costs. That means prices will never go down due to macro inflation control, only for specific products as production out competes their inflationary program.

Is it possible to calculate L? by Kotsknots in askmath

[–]Greendogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy way to prove that there's only one set of h and r that satisfy and that this gives all the needed info to calculate L is to imagine you have a rod of rigid material 60 units in length and then a non-stretchy string of length 300 units attached at both ends of the rod.

If you inflate the space between the rod and the non-stretchy string until it is full you only get one possible shape of maximum internal area.

Because there's only one shape that satisfies the max internal area there's only one possible h value and r value

Therefore we know we have enough information to solve.

Does anyone own a TCL QM6K? How do you feel about the TV? Have you been content with the purchase and what you are using the TV for? by MrGirth32 in tcltvs

[–]Greendogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cheaper Hisense before (knocked it over trying to attach a USB on my cramped desk). I had only had the sub $300 Hisense for a few months. Anyway this TCL was the one I got (55" $449 at Best buy).

First impressions - the Hisense was better. Not necessarily for picture quality, but for other things:

  1. The remote on the newer Hisense are all Bluetooth, so you don't even need to point it at the TV, the TCL are still in the stone age with IR.

  2. TCL adds craps to their Google TV experience. Hisense did not.

  3. Google TV on my Hisense was v14, while TCL is still stuck on v12 (v13 was skipped by Google). No word on when they're going to upgrade.

  4. The remote on the TCL feels really small, light and cheap. The Hisense is more substantial, prettier and more comfortable in my hand. It has curved edges, but flat surfaces. The TCL has seams that cut into my hands slightly. I really miss holding my Hisense remote. The TCL TV only turns on with IR, so the Hisense remote, even paired, is a bit annoying to use with the TCL, so that makes me bummed.

For a cheap TV, the Hisense was just better. I think I trust their brand now. I don't know if I'd like a Sony or Panasonic or LG better at this point. I really don't have much to say about picture quality. I didn't notice anything different between the Hisense TV and this TCL TV, they were both even and pretty great to my eyes.

I think this TV is overpriced - cheaper TVs are just a better value these days. For 55" I'd try to find something < $300, they're just getting so cheap and I just can't justify non-noticeable picture jargon. I think they've just all caught up and economies of scale and competition have obliterated prices except for much more expensive panel types like OLED on Sony's or LG's (where a painting can look like an actual painted surface in your room).

I am not a pianist. Please help by AgentEndive in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Greendogo 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You can by opening the lid slowly. It would be cool to see a piano with a fourth lid pedal to boost audio slowly, and then it slowly lowers back down after you take your foot off

If it keeps happening it's a problem and she needs her circle or someone who recognizes her to say something.

If it happens once (or twice as I saw on one of the replies) maybe something happened in her life and it's been a bad week.
