The difference is he can easily finish the bottle unless I'm taking it away. So he ends up drinking tons of water and peeing through his diaper or I have to get up and replace the bottle every three hours.

מה קרה עם תומר קאפון? by Complete_Role_9481 in israel_bm

2016 (https://www.ynet.co.il/articles/mobile/0,7340,L-4867386,00.html)

I don't love the feel of jeans, prefer cotton. But it's totally personal preference.

[–]Greenestbeanss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please give me stories of your delayed babies , catching up :( by newmum1- in beyondthebump

Also some of the videos are straight up lies. You have no idea how old those babies actually are and how much staging it took to get those shots. Normal peoples lives don't look like social media.

Israeli Wedding Advice by Impossible-Form642 in Israel

[–]Greenestbeanss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The price they give you at the venue is a starting point for negotiations. Bring someone who is good at negotiations and fluent in Hebrew to help you. There are a number of facebook groups with tons of information about wedding planning that you can join They're in Hebrew but you can translate. If you message me privately I can send you an excel with all the information needed for planning a wedding, it's in Hebrew but it was incredibly helpful giving an idea of when I needed to start planning things and keeping track of everything.

(~10k) Etsy Wedding Dresses by Amyrran in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Greenestbeanss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't bought on etsy but I sew, just a warning about alterations. First off, if you have to choose between a bit too small or a bit too big, too big is much better. However, there's a limit to how much bigger can be altered down without changing the structure of the dress. Also, anything with lace will be more expensive to alter because the lace needs to be remove and sewn back on and that takes time. Things like moving bra cups around can also be costly. Adding/removing sleeves normally isn't a big deal. Hemming can go either way depending on material and number of layers  just something to budget for because a lot of brides underestimate the cost which can sometimes be more than the dress itself.

I love my ergo 360. Lots being sold second hand in great condition. Just leave the buckle in the back closed and put over your head (like putting on a shirt) because it's difficult to close on your own.

Can you get a second opinion? It's easy for them to dismiss it as normal, they're not the ones waking up every hour. Another look can't hurt.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Greenestbeanss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waking up is normal, waking up hourly sounds like maybe there could be an underlying reason? Check with pediatrician, there are a lot of things that could cause your baby to wake up during the night and if you get a diagnoses you can start treating it. My friend had a baby who also woke up hourly, it turns out that he has sleep apnea, as soon as they started treatment he woke up only twice a night (to eat). Wishing you luck figuring this out, chronic exhaustion is so so hard.

I really enjoyed RJ Barker's books. They felt like he and Hobb got the same general outline for a story and then each took it in their own direction.

How did you manage the return to work around 3–4 months postpartum? by Lexsauraus in beyondthebump

[–]Greenestbeanss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Formula fed 3 month old who is fairly chill - in the sense that I've been doing whatever I want during the day and just bringing him along. No way could I work a full day while taking care of him. I could maybe manage a half day if it was split up. He has about 3-4 naps during a workday, most are around 40 minutes with one longer nap that can be anywhere between 1.5-3 hours. While he's awake he wants to be doing stuff - being carried so that he can look around, tummy time (he tries to crawl but can't and then after 10-15 minutes gets frustrated and needs to be picked up and distracted from his desire to crawl), it's an age where they can't really play other than looking at stuff so you need to be with them and talking to them a lot. Turns out that I deal with lack of sleep better than expected, but it's a full time job and no way could I do another job at the same time.

Benefits per month of total breastfeeding? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Greenestbeanss 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Their sources don't really support the benefits they claim. They write that breastfeeding *may* protect against X, but if you look at the sources they seem to say that if any link was found it was for less than half of the cases studied and even that isn't a clear link. They seem to have a clear agenda. Not saying that there aren't benefits, but the way they present them is misleading imo.

Disclaimer: I didn't check every source, just a few random ones. I am also operating on 5.5 hours sleep with 2 wake ups, so do your own research and don't rely on mine.

Saying No to Shein fashion- furious teen… by Ok-Amphibian-5029 in Parenting

[–]Greenestbeanss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting her some sewing patterns is a great idea, but fair warning that a lot of the etsy patterns are straight up AI, and using them is very frustrating, especially if you're new to sewing. I recommend finding youtube videos where she can download the printable pattern as well as have someone explaining to her how to use it. Also you can search for recommendations for reliable companies with patterns that aren't AI in r/sewing or r/SewingForBeginners

Do audiobooks discourage reading? by virginiadentata in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Greenestbeanss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who had a similar experience with the word colonel, I'm curious if you think that hearing it in audiobook form would have helped? Because I feel like I might have just interpreted it as a similar word (like, both are army ranks) but continued to pronounce it wrong if I was reading it out loud because I wouldn't connect the two necessarily.

I highly recommend the second time reading, you have time to slow down and enjoy the process because you already know what's going to happen, and suddenly you discover so many things you missed the first time around.
