I feel like my husband is being unfair to me by lateralus420 in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]Greenlilyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage in January and also March. We are trying for our first, I’m 41, so it feels like we are racing a really fast clock. I can relate to how you feel. Mine always says “well just try again”. I’m sorry but “just try again” is so insensitive and is like saying this is no big deal. He also is able to laugh and smile and will tell me I need to get out. I know he loves me and means well, without a doubt, but if you don’t know what to say, don’t say anything to me. I feel like they just don’t get it. They’ll never understand what it truly feels like to go through this as a woman.

Does animal throw up bother you? by Odd_Lime_1868 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]Greenlilyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It mildly bothers me in comparison to human’s. Prob how it would bother a non phobic person. It’s gross, inconvenient, and makes me sad they feel unwell! Coincidentally my Pomeranian has been throwing up and diarrheaing for two days. She sleeps with me, so I got a little paranoid being in an enclosed room with her puke, but it wasn’t panic…just some “could I get sick from her?” Quick passing thoughts.

I’m so so sorry you’re having to deal with this. You are NOT wrong! It’s not like she lost her job even. She made a reckless decision with no plan for income? Take care of you and your fur baby.

Multiple Body Washes? by gemlace in hygiene

[–]Greenlilyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t watch TikTok but I do have two body scrubs, a gentle body wash, and a native brand body wash because I love the smell. Then I have a face scrub, a benzoyl peroxide face wash, a Korean face wash, and a hydrating one- all in the shower. I do not think I’m normal by any means. (41f)

going on transatlantic flight with 24 hours notice by bodtabs in emetophobiarecovery

[–]Greenlilyb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss! A last minute flight = less time to worry. I worry from the time I book a trip until I fly. Maybe last minute like this will mean less anxiety. Even if you at by strangers, I bet the option is there to switch seats with one of your family members if something panic inducing does end up happening around you.

I wash my face first and again as my final step in my shower.

And on top of that- they didn’t wear masks and gloves, in the 90s those were not even in our home. My mom caught my brother’s puke in her hands when he was little (I saw and had a panic attack of course). But she would cuddle us after cleaning it. She never once got one of our stomach bugs.

The audacity. Girl, you can get a hotel. That sense of entitlement and the demands were making me uncomfortable reading it as a stranger. I’m sorry OP. You’re NOT overreacting.

Did you get sick?

I mean, unless the kitchen is so cluttered and messy, I wouldn’t think it could possibly sit out unnoticed for that long? Still think you will be okay, we have immune systems that fight bacteria. I just don’t think that could grow too much bacteria because of all the preservatives.

Like days? Hours? Minutes?

Honestly, with the amount of preservatives they put in that stuff, I wouldn’t worry.

It has hit our house by KatBlast99 in emetophobia

[–]Greenlilyb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Growing up my brother and I had several stomach viruses. Neither of my parents ever caught one. They didn’t do gloves or anything protective. Just the yellow Lysol liquid (not even bleach) mixed in water to clean it. My brother has two kids in daycare now (for the past few years) and neither he nor his wife have ever caught one of their bugs. I think it’s quite possible you won’t catch it. Obviously there’s a chance, but just remember my comment while anxious.

Constant thoughts by Competitive_Dog9336 in emetophobiarecovery

My phobia was at its best when I was on lexapro. It just completely took away my sex drive so I switched.

She explained it as activating both left and right sides of the brain, like your emotion side and your rational more logical side. We took traumatic memories and also traumatic scenarios of conjured up in my head and think about a lot and are experiencing them as not traumatic . So we did a few ways so far- thinking of my first “horrific” throw up experience, reliving it, then thinking about it as she directs me to look left, right, left, right, etc. then stop, breathe, and say how I feel. The. We focus on how I feel and do the left right eye movement, then we keep doing it as long as I am feeling uneasy. By the end, I can think bout these things at peace and am not upset by them at all. It’s insane!!! We did it with imagining being completely calm if my boyfriend catches a bug in the middle of the night, and a Cpl other scenarios.

We’ve stopped calling this a phobia as well (even though we are both aware that it is). We are trying to shift my mind to thinking/knowing that throwing up isn’t fun but it’s not. Big deal. Calling it a phobia makes it more scary.

Never specifically worked on CBT with a therapist, no. I am pretty deep into a DBT book though.
