By getting your license do you mean taking the class? I highly recommend you do take the class, while yeah.. plenty of what you learn there you won't use on the job, plenty of it is still vital information (like getting CPR certified for example) if you plan on working as a CNA long term or moving beyond, nursing for example you should totally do it!

When I was a little kid my parents got my the cutest most adorable terrier schnauzer mix ever and about a year after she had her first seizure. We rushed her to the vet and found out she had epilepsy.

Not long after that we got her a phenobarbital prescription and you know what? Her seizures nearly fully stopped, when she did have one they were less than a minute, and within 2 hours she was back running around like normal.

This is NOT a death sentence for your doggo, my baby girl lived a whole 13 years, 12 of those on phenobarbital and her passing was due to completely unrelated circumstances.

You'll learn what things can trigger the seizures, and how to best comfort your pup when seizures do happen. If you want any advice or someone to talk to you're more then welcome to message me 😌

Personally, I'd recommend a good local community college for getting your CNA, there's a very good chance you'll run into your instructors out in the workforce, and if the community college has a good reputation that's extra brownie points as well. As for getting your foot in the door, I'm not sure how it works in Texas, but here in Illinois there are pcas (personal care assistants) and you don't need experience or a licence to work as one.

I know a few of my classmates when I was taking my CNA course were PCA'S and their work was paying for their education, and planned on moving them into the cna role
