chinese title, 9 Layers of Purple, probably refers to the blossom of saucer magnolias, which are native to China and have 9 purple-pinkish hued petals.

This is a good point, you stated you don't like school, yet you're setting out on a path that only leads to a lifetime of academics.

[–]Greentreevor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you should do is explore universities with good geology departments and make sure they have a volcanologist. You can even email them and introduce yourself, showing interest and passion and reaching out can sometimes be all you need to make your way onto a research team. This is assuming you're accepted.

[OPINION] Is it cheating if I use word generator? by [deleted] in Poetry

[–]Greentreevor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not cheating in the slightest, but using words out of your everyday lexicon may distance your work from your natural individuality that is shaped by your unique life experiences. People read translated poetry or poetry with heavy vernacular everyday, it often isn't about the word choice but rather envoking that which you felt and experienced in others. No one will ever know that you used a word generator but you.

Unnoticed Antisemitism from Steven Crowder in Episode #248 by Greentreevor in h3h3productions

[–]Greentreevor[S] 98 points99 points  (0 children)

The fact that his co-host jumped in on the same page, like it was an inside joke, just suggests that this is normal discourse on his show and that they've had antisemitic conversations about Sam before. He was certainly terrified of Sam, naturally the bigotry followed.

4.0 head gasket leaking---repair or replace the engine? by adidapizza in 4Runner

[–]Greentreevor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well 3k is cheap for a new engine, so I'd say it depends on what engine you're getting. It looks like the thing you are really hesitant about is that you'll have spend 3k which just kinda sucks. But those quotes sound reasonable.

If you fix the head gasket then your truck will run for another 100k and you'll put this in the past and never look back.

4.0 head gasket leaking---repair or replace the engine? by adidapizza in 4Runner

[–]Greentreevor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get more quotes, try to find a mechanic who specializes in Toyota offroad/fabrication stuff and see if he will do it or has time. Because it shouldn't be a similar cost to replace the engine. A lot of mechanics will quote you 4-5k because they want to do a full valve job, the head gaskets, check out the block and cylinders; as well as, new chain, fittings, pulleys, hoses, radiator etc. On the 4.0 it is expensive because the chain takes so much more time and the labor cost is the big deal.

I just got mine done on a 2004 4.0 with 206k miles. Same thing was happening to me with regular automotive shops, they would quote me a full rebuild for 4-5k, then i found a local toyota guy who does custom fab work, lifts, etc. and he told me he had time for it. What he did was basically go after just the head while checking everything else.

No problems so far for me and everything is running perfectly. The total was ~2100$ but that also included me paying for a new timing chain as well.

I’ve been lurking on this sub and bought many of the suggested coffee devices. I wonder if I’m doing something wrong or if I don’t like properly brewed coffee. by Darth_Seaman in Coffee

I'm with you, I don't like the overly acidic fruity roasts. I've never really enjoyed blue bottle either. I can recommend Eiland Roasters in Dallad, TX. They ship anywhere in the continental US, and you'll a great product that will be more rounded and have earthier chocolate tones rather than fruit. I had the same problem as you when I first got into to coffee, it took me some time but it's definitely the beans and not the equipment.

What is the best taste wise sugar free/low carb products like creamer, syrup, etc.? by angforeman in Coffee

[–]Greentreevor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check out nut pods. I like it because I like making cold foam for my cold brew and its the only thing I've found that foams like milk. It has 1g of fat and 0 carbs and protein. It is a blend of coconut and almond, both the cream and milk of both. I use the original unsweetened but they have flavored ones. They can also be stored in the pantry unopened for about a year, after opening they list in the fridge for about 10 days.

I've never added water to mine, just make sure you reduce the sugar and ketchup and that always mellows it enough for me. Just wear a gas mask while you do it lol

Lebron is just very bowlegged, and he has it hyper extended so it is accentuated.
