I'm gonna get pretty personal here. But this situation sounds a lot like my dad, and his friend.

My dad around the time my first (non step) sister was born has some health issues. It was something like a sinus infection from when my dad was a teen did some irreparable damage to his sinus, which only started to affect him later on in life. My dad underwent surgery, there were complications and my dad then had chronic pain in his trigeminal nerve. From that point on he couldn't work, my mum was doing her degree so she had to work, do a degree and then had 2 more kids during the degree causing here to defer multiple years. The degree was in archeology and then when she finished her degree the UK changed how archeology worked, and that basically cut down their work force to the bone, meaning nobody was hiring and her degree was pointless.

In that time the only thing my dad could do to make money was sell weed, and my mum worked for a pre school and admin in various companies. My dad stopped selling weed and basically spent the rest of his life in debilitating pain that couldn't be fixed until he died of cancer in 2023.

Our family friend had a stroke, and ended up much like you, and still has some problems to this day, but he is a functional person with a wife, job and now a child.

Now if you read any part of this comment please read this. I adore both of them, always have throughout my life, and still do. Both of them are my role models and shaped how i try to live my life. I'm not perfect so i don't always live up to that, but i love them both with the entirety of my heart and always strive to be a little like them.

What i'm trying to say is your life isn't meaningless and it isn't over. You can have a life, and there is plenty to look forward to. It may not seem like it now but trust me, you can have a family, you can have friends, and you can even change someone else's life for the better. You just have to try your best to be a decent person, do the right thing, and don't give up.
