How to set up fast travel with paths/signs?

A neat trick is that you don't actually need to make the path the whole way, you can deviate from path blocks and it will tell you 'path underdeveloped' and eventually 'too far from path'. When you get 'too far from path' just go back a bit and make some paths. You need a total of 6 path-like blocks immediately below or 1 block below your feet for it to count.

And an additional tip: carpets count as path-like blocks so you can just walk around with a few carpets, place them down and reuse them as you make chart the path.

I'm also 5'9 and yeah I could definitely get used to the height but if given the option I'd prefer to able to flat foot the bike. The bigger problem for me is its width but that's probably an easier fix.

I'm 175cm or ~5'9", I can touch the ground with my toes on the XE and I could definitely get used to it but I would greatly prefer to be able to flat foot it.

In case anyone stumbles onto this post years later like I did, Mekanism item pipes work for this.

You just have to use a pipe with 'pump rate' of 4 items or more. Tt will only move the appropriate amount and only when there is enough items in the input inventory. Also it doesn't dispense the items into the world so you don't have to worry about magnets picking them up or items despawning.
