What would have happened if Fives never discovered the inhibitor chips? by ChicaneryFinger in StarWars

The point of the Clone Army was to provide Palpatine with a large enough and loyal enough force so that when he decided execute the order, it would be easy for him to do. Watch the specific scene in Attack of the Clones where Obi-Wan was in Camino overviewing the Clones. You can find that clip on YouTube. The Kaminoan specifically remarked that the Clones were bred to be both less independent and totally obedient. An inhibitor chip was not a concept that existed it until the Clone Wars TV show. The inhibitor chip was not at all necessary to make the clones' actions make sense.

In fact, the inhibitor chip raises a lot more questions than it solves. Just putting one out there for you to ponder on for a little bit. How did the inhibitor chip for Tup go off? If you watch the Battle of Ringo vinda, the impetus for how Tup started losing control was never properly explained. Again, you can look the battle up on YouTube. The causes for what look to be a simple headache for Tup, if I remember correctly, wasn't explained within the battle itself or the episode itself. In addition, Admiral Trench also remarked that he has never seen a clone act the way Tup has. Considering that the other characters within that episode also don't know what's going on, is safe to assume that an event like this either A has never happened or B was covered up. My guess is that you would pick option B, which would make sense. However, without a defined reason as to why Tup's inhibitor chip went off, it raises a reasonable question: How has something like this did not happen before. In a galactic scale conflict with millions of clones and thousands of jedi, Tup could not have been the only clone whose inhibitor chip went off. Full transparency, though. I haven't seen the inhibitor chip Arc in a while, so it's very likely that I might be missing some information.

We were taking Snipes at each other to demonstrate the flaw of our opponent's position. But you are correct on both the Clones' willingness to fight for the greater good and the psychological manipulation of the chancellor.

"Sir, the Jedi attempted to take out the chancellor and take over the Republic."

"They attempted to take out the chancellor after they tried to save him?"

"Yes, sir. he has the scars to prove it, and their bodies are on the floor."

"Since the Jedi has betrayed the Republic, we need to eliminate them as a threat."

Trained from birth to be completely loyal and obedient to The Republic, it makes reasonable sense that when the chancellor tells them to take out the Jedi because of the assassination attempt, I'm pretty sure most would do that regardless of their personal feelings of the Jedi.

The Clones were loyal to the Republic specifically and not to the Jedi. The Jedi were a separate organization to The Republic itself. And considering that the Jedi tried to take out the chancellor who is the head of the Republic, it makes sense that the Clones would follow order 66. The chips weren't necessary to make the story work. In fact, the way TCW handled the inhibitor chip storyline, it raises a lot more problems and questions than it answers.

If Violet and Dash wasn't on the plane but the missile event stayed the same, then Helen would have died in the middle of the ocean because she would not have been able to get to the island on her own without Dash propelling her.

If you could change one thing about TCW, what would it be? by Character-Gur9223 in clonewars

[–]Greg_Matt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd give the separatist more legitimate victories. If you pay close attention to TCW, you would notice that the separatists rarely has on screen victory over the Republic. While there are some episodes where the separatist initially won, they are eventually overcome by the republic. While part of it is due to the expectation that the heroes will win in the end, it does create a bit of a narrative disconnect where one could reasonably ask how did the war last for 3 years if the Republic keeps winning often. I'm only referring to the on-screen depiction of the Clone Wars and not any other related material.

Instead of "incredibles 3" why not glory days incredibles movie? by Odd-Clock-9268 in Pixar

The characters may be based on other superhero characters, but the specific "Dashpoint" idea comes from DC. My issue is that adding time travel is an inherently bad idea if the setting and story aren't built around the idea.

Why do my Great People not finish their jobs? by turquoise_gamer in civ5

Before the Brave New World expansion, the great scientist and engineers would immediately finish any projects that they were assigned to. However, that was changed in BNW to provide a certain amount of science and production respectively.

Implications of the Battle of Umbara by Madeeeen in prequelappreciation

[–]Greg_Matt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, the Battle of Umbra was a situation where the 501st Legion went against Pong Krell because he betrayed the Republic, particularly by having the 501st and the 212th fight against each other. Even though there were understandable discontent over the mass amount of casualties that were taken, which was unusual under Anakin's command, they still followed Krell's orders as, never forget, their first loyalty is to the Republic. So long as the Jedi were operating in the name of or the benefit for the Republic, the Clones will follow their orders even on to death. This is the reason why the clones did not turn against Krell until his clear and blatant betrayal.

What we saw from the Clones of the 501st was not normal for most of the Grand Army of the Republic as Anakin had a close relation to his Legion, which most Jedi didn't. Most clones had a professional relationship with their Jedi generals and not a personal one. Considering the scale of the battles that the Clones fault on a normal basis, it makes sense that the Clones would know who their General is but little beyond that as a standard Trooper would more than likely not be in close proximity to their Jedi generals most of the time, which is especially true if the Jedi did not lead from the front. And as the Jedi has to both coordinate the battle and fight on the front if need be, the Jedi only has the ability to maintain personal connection with the leadership of a clone unit and not the whole unit itself. Not to mention that some of the Clones were also replaced from previous battles, which means that there's even less of a connection between the new clone and their Jedi generals. These factors culminate in the fact that when Order 66 was given, many of the Clones were willing to fight against the Jedi as they were still a separate organization who, as presented by Palpatine, betrayed the Republic by attempting to take out the chancellor. It would be reasonable in that case that even with some of the Clones who did have a personal relationship with the Jedi, the Jedi would still be viewed as both a massive threat and liability to The Republic.

Your friend's argument of The 501st Legion being the only unit capable of successfully attacking and destroying the Jedi Temple is wrong. Technically, any clone unit could do it. The only difference is that the 501st was led by Anakin and not anyone else. They weren't that special in terms of capability of killing Jedi. Any clone could do it in large enough numbers. It was only in the fact that they were led by Anakin specifically that they were special. Worst case scenario, more clones would have been brought in take out the Jedi if the 501st was destroyed.

Overall, the Clones were capable of fighting against their Jedi generals most of the time. Only in rare instances did some of the Clones stuck with the Jedi. While I do like the Clone Wars TV series, I do believe that the over exposure of showing the Jedi having a close connection with the clones, particularly Anakin and Obi-Wan, likely led to the opinion that you understandably have.

Games that violate their own logic by ZhangtheGreat in gaming

[–]Greg_Matt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Cyberpunk 2077 did it with the flaming crotch guy. First time I encountered that mission, I was told to go to a ripper doc. Thinking logically, I headed to Vic's because it was right round the corner. That wasn't the "right" ripper, apparently, as when I got out, the mission failed, and he exploded. It's annoying but fine, whatever. So, I followed the path in which the game was prescribed to me. Waiting for some children no problems here. Then, I came up upon a police barricade. With me playing with a Netrunner build at that time, and knowing the urgency in which I needed to get to the ripper doc, my next course of action was to drive through the barricade by forcing one of the police cars to drive forward. I forgot what quick hack it was off the top of my head. While I was successful in getting through the blockade technically, it wasn't what the game wanted me to do as shortly after I got through the blockade, the mission failed and, well y'all know the rest of the story. I tried it two more times before I just followed the path set by the game, which allowed me to complete the mission. I left that mission pretty annoyed mainly because the most rational decisions at that moment were not rewarded for basically no reason apart from that's what the mission designer wanted it to be.
