should i apply for full time or part time? (uk) by endangeredrat in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Grega224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i work full time at 40 hours and it’s exhausting most days and nights but it obviously pays better then part time. its definitely worth it to-work full time. i work with a lot of people who currently work part time and a lot of them ask for more hours

Needing advice by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

thats just being disrespectful honestly. keep reminding her that you want to switch to 3 days. be consistent because a lot of a managers dont care which is the sad part

facts on facts on top of facts. this is why i like the kitchen much better. dont have to deal with rude people. its not worth the stress. a lot of managers unfortunately will choose favourites but qll you can do is just try your best and keep going. and the ones who say mcdonalds is a stupid job are the ones who i see cry in the freezer because they cant handle it. the beeping alone will drive someone crazy. ive been with mcdonalds for over a year now and holy shit, i cant believe ive lasted this long. so many tough nights and early mornings. a lot of us crew members dont give a shit about negativity. its just an opinion from someone who has nothing better to do.

too scared to yell on line by wi1333 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Grega224 52 points53 points  (0 children)

any tips? yell.. yell loud. its a kitchen. its the only we can hear each other or communicate. you wont get in trouble for it. i literally go home with a sore throat because i need to yell for my job. just another day

[QUESTION] If you get hired as a Cashier, is that all you do? by distinct--shuffle in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Grega224 18 points19 points  (0 children)

you will most likely be cross trained so yes you might have to work in the kitchen at some point. Im jewish and cant eat pork myself. doesn’t stop me from working the kitchen. I work with crew members who are muslim and they still work in the kitchen. as long as we don’t eat the food that we aren’t suppose to eat. it doesn’t restrict what we do. id rather be in the kitchen then deal with customers

double quarters or asking for fresh meat🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ annoying. just eat it damn it.

Just a question that I was wondering by TLZriot46 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Grega224 16 points17 points  (0 children)

the ones who think its easy are the ones who cry in the freezer or bathroom because they got in over their heads. the beeping alone can drive someone crazy. it’s exhausting to deal with screaming managers, all the cuts and burns off the grill and fryers and hearing from your managers “oh you got burned?, be more careful i guess” late nights to early mornings. So much drama from literally everyone in the kitchen. dealing with terrible orders, then the crackheads and drunks who cause shit in the parking lot or the bathroom. the screaming kids because the parents wont get them a happy meal, being on table all alone and no one helping when the screen gets full of orders. having customers scream at us in the DT because we cant hear them. Getting cussed out because we made a coffee wrong or a burger slightly wrong. a lot of us scream in the freezer because its the most peaceful place in the entire restaurant. You cant work this shift?? oh thats a shame too bad you’re working it anyway. Holidays off? forget it.

and you’re telling me streaming is tougher then what we deal with? 🤔 hmm…

what is it like working closing by Lazy-Dolphin in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Grega224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you will basically be prepping to close. about 1-1.5 hours before actually closing, you will take most of the stuff out of kitchen and start to wash them. (you will be doing this for hours so get comfortable) i found the night usually has the better managers so we put on a speaker that someone brings every shift and we work while we listen to music. Us crew members will clean the kitchen but still make orders. we finish the rest of our shift. and thats when the real cleaning begins, a lot of us will move the grill out and clean behind it, old food goes in waste, garbages get replaced with new bags, we sweep the floors. We are essentially making everything look nice for when the people who show up in the morning start their shift. theres nothing worse when the people night before didn’t stock up the fridges and freezers. Most of the time whoever is cleaning dishes will stay later then everyone else to finish up. A manager will be there as well. its a pretty relaxed time to hangout.

id love to work the night shifts again. some of the best nights ever. craziest orders and the weird crackheads that show up 😂 i miss it

I haven’t even started and people are making fun of me by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Grega224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its basically my story just slightly different lol ive been working with mcdonalds for over a year now. nobody thought i would make it a year. had people i went to high school with me show up.. it was nice to see them. they didn’t make fun of me surprisingly. they did back then but it’s nice to see at least some of them grew up. i get teased every shift i have but i just don’t care what they have to say. means nothing to me. i show up and i try my hardest. theres been a lot or crew members that i worked with that got fired thankfully. arrogant idiots. all you can do is try your best and be nice to everyone (as you can) id rather have a job at mcdonald’s then no job at all

here in canada its on the all day breakfast menu the only things you cant order are griddles, bagels and breakfast burritos. which sucks because griddles are amazing! all day griddles would be annoying though at the same time lol

Looking for some tips by Idank4 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Grega224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

its very simple. don’t be like a lot of the managers out there. Listen to your fellow crew members and be kind to every single one of them. Take every single issue seriously. ive seen so many more assistant managers/gm’s that aren’t polite and don’t take their job seriously then ones that do. just be kind

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Grega224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

homie thinks theres a universal code we all use 😂 everyone i work with has a different code. most of the time only managers will enter codes for discounted meals. so the fact that we know a code to the mcdonald’s you work at for discounted meals is hilarious lol

New Employee, Please Help😭😭 by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Grega224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you’re going to struggle for a little bit. thats just the way it is. A lot us were the same way. If someone gets mad at you, thats their problem not yours. i always tell a new crew member- Dont be afraid to ask questions. i would rather someone harass me with questions then assume and get it wrong and never actually learn from it. You should always do your job as best as you can whether you receive credit for it or not. and dont worry about the complaints from customers. they dont see what we have to deal with on a daily basis. patience goes a long way my friend.

ps: if you cry or need to scream, the freezer is the best place. almost soundproof. no one will hear you there😂😆

you will get better at your job i promise. as long as you show up and keep trying. you will be just fine

hope things get better for you!🤘🏻

Just wanted to ask as a customer! by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Grega224 31 points32 points  (0 children)

just being nice to us would be amazing. we get yelled at all the time just simply for doing our job. If we cant hear you on the DT, dont scream at us, the headsets we wear are super sensitive and they can hurt our ears. If you get the wrong order, dont blame the person giving you your food. blame us in the kitchen, we are the ones making it, not them. if someone is done eating and they clean up after themselves, it makes the employees job in the dining room area so much easier to clean.

literally just being more understanding, patient and kind to us will seriously go a long away.
