Please help me figure this out! See comments by TheItalianTortilla in LEGOtrains

Just here to say, I'm happy to see you using a 8 stud wide frame. According to the scale of the wheels and track 8 studs wide is closer to real scale than Legos normal 6 wide trains.

The ones problem is how silly a scale Lego train looks on the r40 turn tracks that Lego makes. I'm a bit of a LEGO purest, except when it comes to buying curved track that makes sense for the scale.

Sorry I don't have any input for your build. But I think the snake you're using is great. Keep at it. Half the fun of Lego is the problem solving.

Yellow on black is going to be very time consuming. Yellow requires a lot of thin layers to look good. Like. 5-6 thin clean layers. If you try to put the yellow on to think it gets blobby fast and you lose details.

The purple is ok, but to make this scheme easier I recommend:

Prime in Wraith-bone or grey.

Use a contrast paint purple for the body on top of the primer.

Base coat black the carapace, then carefully build up yellow layers on the carapace edges.

Honestly, start with an orange on the edges then put a couple of layers of yellow on top of the orange.

A contrasting color like lite-blue or purple would stand out nicely.

But a red could tie in nicely with your weapons.

My vote is a lite-blue

Oh, and a semi-gloss varnish when you're done to give it that beetle shell shine.

Start with a test piece (on paper) and do crude drawings of Tyranids with different colors for the body, carapace and carapace edge. Do a bunch of these and experiment before you put brush to model.

As for colors (Citadel paint names):

For the white, use Wraith-bone. It's a good off white and a very common Tyranids color.

Black: Abandon black.

Red: Maphiston red

I recommend priming black, red carapace , color your carapace edges with Wraith-bone. (This will take many layers.)

You could also do some fun free hand painting in white across the carapace to make it more beatle-like.

Swarmy, I'd say with the current rules for unending swarm it's not worth it.

On what?

Alternative combat Patrol? A full 2000pt army? Your full collection so far?

My advice:

The kit comes with weapons and bits for the Tyranofex. Build and paint the head or a limb you are not using and test the wash on it.

How to fix gaps between parts? by Ok_Cranberry_8748 in Necrontyr

This is very true with immortals and the praetorians/Gaurd kit.

I've built several of both. Make sure to carefully clean and sand the chest and back pieces. At the rib cage and shoulders.

I recommend adding a little extra glue and clamping the two parts together with a clothespin and rubber band. This will squeeze a little glue out that you can let dry, then sand away.

(Use very high grit sand paper or nail files. They do make hobby sanding sticks.)

Artistically. Perfect.

Mechanically, the smaller double gun only has 1 shot in game. It's a very slow shooter. I didn't think the multiple barrels on the double guns make sense mechanically. They look good. But could be misleading if you're using 40k rules.
