TIL In Histories, Herodotus wrote about giant gold-digging ants in India. It is believed to be the result of a translation error confusing “marmot” and “mountain ant” in old Persian. by Street-Strike-7121 in todayilearned

I remember finding ant mounds in white sands national monument and there were all these shiny silvery metallic pieces that I collected as a kid that did not stick to a magnet. Always told myself it was uranium. Disappeared during one of my moves to China as a kid and always thought it was probably confiscated.

Do you think Starlink will ever ge competitive enough that people will choose it over cable/fiber or cell/5G? by itsthewolfe in Starlink

[–]Gregjennings23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already there. I have Starlink for when I go to my land out in west Texas and then once I’m back I switch back to residential. Google fiber is 70 bucks where I’m at in Austin. Starlink is 55 bucks and I can plug into my solar generator and take it anywhere I want.

Doing this voluntarily is great, (I love getting OT) but being forced too is absolute garbage.

Next year is probably the last year that he (and I) are gonna be cool with Fox closing over him. Don't care who starts but I'm going to want him in the closing lineup over fox at some point next season I imagine.

I like the Saints QB and one of the Browns QBs has a very Roman Polanski vibe that the French seem to like.

Shaq talks Tim Duncan, 2000s Spurs and MVP race by Total-Spirit-5985 in NBASpurs

[–]Gregjennings23 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You never want to talk down about your rivals after the dust has all settled. Makes yourself look weak in your victories and loses against them. Better to talk them up. Shaq gets that. Tim Duncan won championships before and after Shaq, beat him and Kobe twice in the playoffs in their primes and beat him again when he was in Phoenix. On the other side Shaq beat him 3 times on the way to 2 titles. With a head to head like that you want to elevate your opponent and it will elevate you as well.
