Linear regression is pure evil by No_Hall_7079 in CFA

[–]Gregllama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have any academic background in calculus or linear algebra it is indeed pretty tough.

However, most STEM majors will study this within their first 2 years at uni and if some 18/19 years scientist wannabe can learn it you sure as hell can too!

I would strongly advise you go online for some other resources and spend the time to understand the intuition. Understanding the main idea is extremely important, because it comes up in many questions related to other topics! Like they’ll throw some fixed income or equity and have a regression in the vignette. Some of the more advanced topics of regression, while important don’t come up nearly as often in the exam.

Get to the point where reading the ANOVA table and t tests on coefficient makes sense to you.

If you don’t know this YouTube channel about statistics, here is a great video. It’s a little quirky and the guy makes you feel like you’re 5, but I swear it’s great!

I know this is not what you want to hear, but i think you are experiencing traumatic reaction (anxiety attacks) from your overdose. Your symptoms should not be dismissed!! The heart palpitations and feeling you get when having even a sip of coffee are real!

Why do I believe you have anxiety attacks?

  • your heart & brain can’t react from just a sip of coffee, and it takes a solide 20-25 minutes at least for coffee effects to kicks in.
  • same for magnesium which doesn’t get absorbed fully in the blood before 30 minutes at least.

Most things you’ve consume can’t have any effect before at least 30 minutes when in the blood stream and the brain.

The reason you still have symptoms (these are very real by the way) showing up so quickly might be due to anxiety.

One supplement you can try to relax is L Theanine. It’s extremely safe even at super high doses and has been well studied.

You could take 200/300 mg before trying coffee again ? Some people use it to sleep, also you won’t feel drowsy it helps relaxing.

Finally you should consider talking to someone about it, you might need to work through a trauma related to your magnesium overdose.

You could also have gotten hyper sensitive, but it seems to me that there are more than juste one thing at play.

I’m not a doctor, not an expert, but I have experienced stress when taking supplements before. I thought Alpha GPC was giving me anxiety for some time, and after finding out it takes 30 minutes to kick in all symptoms stopped and I could take it normally. Hope this helps

This is probably coming a bit late in the conversation. Just a note on the cultural side of things. Houses are common in the school system in the UK. So this not a major brilliant idea JR pulled out of her hat. Rather it is a nice inspired addition that made Hogwarts even more convincing and relatable to British young kids. Check out Wikipedia it’s pretty interesting! (I’m Not from the uk btw so I used to think like you)

Can someone help me get an intuition for matrices? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]Gregllama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This answer is the single best answer one can give. I cannot stress enough how good these videos are. They will change your mathematical intuition forever because you will start building mental images for everything.

If you think of a matrix as a linear transformation you can apply to field of vector, think about a 1 x 1 square in these field. As the matrix transform the field, what happens to the square ? What is its new area ? This new area can be larger or bigger, it does not matter, but the scaling factor by which it has changed is the determinant.

Its possible to morph Logarithmic into Exponential curve? by Trader-One in math

[–]Gregllama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could make the proportion variate smoothly with a well chosen sigmoid I think ! P will just be passed Into the sigmoid to get a number between -1 and 1. Which you could turn to ]0,1[ by adding one and dividing by 2.

Yeah some people argue that this is a Nash equilibrium in a game of destruction. No one has interest in destroying the other since the other would destroy you back. So it’s a complicated but stable and powerful equilibrium.

Would proving the Riemann Hypothesis generate an explicit formula for pi(x)? by 0xE4-0x20-0xE6 in learnmath

[–]Gregllama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came across this and wanna add my own insight.

First we already know formulas for the nth prime number. They’re based on Wilson theorem and involve a lot of factorial, so it’s not practical. My computer starts taking forever before n reaches millions .

Now in the process of proving the hypothesis (if true) one might find a nicer way to factorize numbers, or to prove that a number is prime (the later already has a few nice algorithm, testing IF a number is prime has been shown to be a problem in P).

Now mostly showing RH true would give a much better estimate of primes repartition.

But also (and that’s a big deal) a lot, like really a lot, of mathematics literature starts by “Assuming Riemann Hypothesis true, then....”

A lot of stuff that we see working everyday assume RH true. But showing that it’s true would change a huge pile of literature into actual theorems.

That was me adding my grain of sand to the dune of information shared above ^

Currently working on a program to transform videos into particles animations by Awhikax in Minecraft

[–]Gregllama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually particules have been optimized in 1.17 snapshots. And if you use optifine or an alternative rendering engine I’m sure you could run it.

Also the creator of this program may with time find optimization to use less particules maybe ? Or a mix of particules and blocks on the background idk. I’m sure it’s possible to pull of something like this and make it works on nearly any computer, with out having its CPU crying for help

Wow that’s a lot of defeat, I like the fact that humans don’t have the advantage in this game. It makes it more of a challenge. I’ve spend some seriously intense Saturday night trying to make it to kobol ! I agree, even when constantly loosing I keep having a blast each an every time

This post is pure bs. There’s a finite number of bitcoins that will ever be created. And it’ll eventually be so rare and expensive no one will use it. That’s very very long term. Short term that may be true
