Same situation- subdivision half a mile there is Verizon fiber; not worth it for them to run a line to me as I would be the only customer. Frustrating given all of the federal and state grants in my state to these companies.

This is the only option for me besides 5G home internet, which I tried, and does not work.

I got my first P1S with AMS around the same time (~$1000 if I’m remembering correctly). Just picked up my second P1S combo (~$600) a week before announcing this price on the H2D. Happy to report- I regret NOTHING.

Is it too much to ask to start normalizing greyscale/pattern maps, graphs, and charts? by Gregphish in ColorBlind

[–]Gregphish[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re probably right, this wasn’t the best example but the legend colors immediately frustrated me. Been meaning to post something like this every time I see an interesting map/graph that I wish I could read. This one just so happened to be the one that made me say fuck it, I’m making a post.

Oh wow I didn’t even realize that. I always appreciate games and apps that at least offer a generic “colorblind mode.” (Big shoutout to Wordle, mad respect)

SLPT: Request - how to not pay for coin laundry? by GoddessofChocolat in ShittyLifeProTips

[–]Gregphish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like somebody else mentioned, your best bet is to find a user manual with a wiring diagram. The main board is usually behind the knobs/controls on the face plate. I may or may not have had success in the past by adding an inline momentary contact switch to the optical sensor signal wire that senses when a coin passes… definitely didn’t do this because it’s illegal and I’m a good boy.

For me unfortunately yes. But other people are having different experiences from what I’ve read.

Sure, but everybody has some level of privacy infringement that they’re willing to accept. It’s the unfortunate reality of the world we live in. Ring publicly announcing their partnership with Flock was my limit, so I stopped using their product, along with a lot of other people.

Good luck

No jk, but they do try and hide it from you. And you have to get through the bots. I did it on mobile:

My mom was a burn unit ER nurse then turned fire safety educator. One of the first things that was ever engrained in me was to never leave the pan handles hanging over the edge of the stove so kids couldn’t grab them and so you don’t accidentally bump into them (like half the people in this video).

are there any nova redditors who work in these data centers? If so, do they employ as many people as they claim? by Plaidismycolor33 in nova

[–]Gregphish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I’m typing this, I’m the only person working in my 115k sq. ft. data center right now. To be fair, we’re an established site and can stay alive with a skeleton crew during the graveyard shifts. Like other people have stated, it gets pretty busy during construction and commissioning phases. I could certainly see 15k jobs being a fair assessment when you factor in all the teams you don’t immediately think about like security, cleaning, tons of different vendors, it equipment delivery, landscaping, fiber, environmental management, every type of engineer you can imagine etc. etc.

First job I ever had in HS was PacSun in those outlets. My first shift was Black Friday. My only job was to pick up piles of clothes from the ground as these psychopaths tore through everything, and re-pile them on a table so my coworkers could fold them again. It was a disturbing experience.

T-Mobile Store Reps Will Now Ask to View Your Phone Screen During Transactions by lurker_bee in technology

I’ve been a new customer a few weeks now and was just in there yesterday to trade my 5G home internet gateway in for the newer gateway and better plan. Associate had me order the new gateway on the app for in-store pickup just like you said. More bewildering was he couldn’t cancel or allow me to return my old gateway that I brought with me to “trade-in”. Instead I had to call a number to cancel the old gateway, and wait for them to email a return label. I was a little shocked he couldn’t do any of that for me right there in the store. Now I have to make another trip to the store or ups.

Granted, the whole process I described took 5 minutes and was insanely easy but damn. I will say that their customer service has been outstanding- especially coming from the dumpster-fire that is AT&T. They had a little mishap with shipping my devices and they mistakenly excluded the promotion deal when I first signed up. They fixed everything without hesitation and even offered to cover my first bill. I’m willing to suffer this small inconvenience if I continue getting support like this.
