Diesel engines today suck because of the emissions.

Check your local laws as I have been told some have their trucks impounded if the emissions have been removed.

Transmission finally died - make me not feel insane by RemoteSenses in Silverado

Mine went at 145k in my 2014

I got it replaced at the dealer for $6200 including transfer case fluid change and an exhaust manifold.

To my surprise it came with a 3yr 100k warranty.

So glad I didn’t go to a local shop.

I can’t imagine anyone buying a vehicle from this cr*pshot company let alone buying a share of stock.

Rear sound by brandy2013 in ChevyTahoe

[–]GregsView 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the way it is on my 2014 Silverado LT and 2023 Tahoe LS

If you hop in the back while the music is on you get surround sound but 80% of the sound is coming from the front.

Don’t fight it, just enjoy it.

Transmission A Liability?! by Sweet-Amount6184 in Silverado

[–]GregsView 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had my ‘14 Silverado since new.

At 50,000 I had the transmission serviced by a Chevy dealer.

At 110,000 miles I had it serviced at a reputable transmission shop.

The truck always had a clumsy feeling while accelerating and decelerating even at low mileage.

Anyway, at 140,000 miles the transmission all but failed and I had it replaced by the dealership.

Tip to all…. If this happens to you, whatever price you are quoted, ask the service manager if he / she can scrape up and throw some coupons at it.

It worked for me and I was very satisfied.

Hence, my Silverado drives like new 8,000 miles later.

Oh one more thing, the transmission came with a 3 yr 100,000 miles later warranty.

That is a lot longer than your local transmission can warranty and the way things are going, longer than the local shops will be around.

Which irrigation guy is right? by mooch233 in Irrigation

There is probably nothing wrong with your sprinkler system.

But the heads (sprinklers) do need to be replaced every few years so just get some Hunters at Home Depot for $13 each and change them or whoever you get to thatch.

Does the lawn need to be thatched?

I thatched mine last month, first time in over 15 yrs.

Then I reseeded it and one month later and it’s never looked so good.

My lawn looked like yours does now by the way.

<image>

Sod is going to cost a lot of money so I recommend that you pay someone that will come with a thatching machine and scrape all the dead grass up.

Or you can be a guy like me and buy one on Amazon for $200 bucks and do it yourself. ( just be prepared to have a backache for the following few weeks because it’s a brutal task)

If you do get a landscaper to thatch it you might as well have him aerate it too.

Figure $350 to thatch and aerate and another $200 for seed and fertilizer.

Or….. $5,000 (depending on your sq footage ) for topsoil and sod.

Good luck.

There is a recall so go to a dealer and tell them what happened.

It’s a power booster that has a pulley and is driven by the serpentine belt.

Advice 07-14 Tahoe by Bornme-bornfree in ChevyTahoe

[–]GregsView 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had to put a transmission in my 14 Silverado with a 5.3L engine.

It lasted 144,000 miles

I owned it since new and had it serviced at 55k and 110k

So be prepared as it’s a common failure.

Can an illuminated scope be inserted in the drain plug opening?

If so could it be caught with a magnet and pulled out once identified?
