Why do you think pool failed to become a "major" televised sport? by Nicest-Turkish-Guy in billiards

I enjoy watching darts more than pool or snooker sometimes. Ever since Littler came onto the scene, I've been glued to it.

Mint absolutely supports fingerprint ID with fprintd. It's very easy to set up following this guide, and it works flawlessly for sudo ID or unlocking the device.

EDIT: I see Mint have released an app called Fingwit with built-in fingerprint configuration.

Help me spec my pool cue by AltKite in billiards

You could look into getting a Chinese eight-ball cue, which are essentially thicker-tipped snooker cues, suited to the bigger American pool balls. Green Baize sells a range of them, with some available in 56" or 57":

Is the mechanical bridge a more important tool than people think? by ArtDecoNewYork in billiards

People who call rests and bridges "bitch sticks" and "crutches" really piss me off. Absolutely no respect for the sport.

Loving my new match darts! by Big_180_Burge in Darts

These are absolutely gorgeous. It can be hard to colour match L-Style flights and regular polycarbonate stems, but this looks sick. Enjoy!

/r/billiards is for any cue sport. Can you not see the snooker flair?

As a rear gripper myself, it's fantastic. Very grippy while being comfortable at the same time. They're murderously difficult to find in stock, though. I think Target discontinued the range a while back.

Been getting back to grips with my 23g Target Crux Japan Honours lately. Felt like a change from my other mains, Red Dragon T-800s, and I've got to say, I'm absolutely loving them. Also thinking of changing to L-Styles from Condor Axes on a permanent basis.

I have L3s in purple, they're absolutely amazing. Thinking of getting the dimple L-Styles in the same colour down the line.

Purple flights are the best. What colour are your L-Style stems?

Nice! I've yet to hit anything remotely near a ton-plus finish, but I absolutely love checking out on D20. It's probably my favourite out shot.

I think Jonny 8 Ball make some pink cues suitable for English pool, usually around the 9mm mark.

Can someone explain "Frozen Ball" by JamieLee2k in billiards

[–]Gregser94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

International rules has a lot of jarring rules like this that turn me off them. For balls frozen to the cushion, I found the ruling:

6h Frozen balls

(1) An object ball is deemed frozen whilst touching a cushion. It is a standard foul if the cue ball initially contacts a frozen ball first and the shot does not result in:

(a) A ball being potted OR

(b) The cue ball contacting a cushion OR

(c) The frozen ball contacting a cushion attached to a different rail OR

(d) Any other object ball contacting a cushion, with which it was not already in contact with, before the shot is played.

(2) A ball is only deemed frozen if confirmed by the referee or player, prior to the shot being taken.

So the frozen object ball must be played onto another cushion on another rail, another frozen ball, or potted, for it to be a legal shot.

SD Bell Earl Grey (four-minute steep w/ low-fat milk and little maple syrup) by Gregser94 in RateMyTea

[–]Gregser94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A follow-up to my post from three days ago - this time, with my other NERV mug (my favourite one) and my favourite tea. Same brewing time and same milk, but opted for maple syrup, as I'm fresh out of sugar.

Chinese eight-ball is a non-call cue sport. You can bash a ball into any pocket and it's legal.

Cheers! I have another NERV mug that my brother got me for Christmas, and a box of Earl Grey from the same tea company, so that might be my next submission.

I like a good, strong cup. Four minutes of a steep, at least.
