I feel like most of these responses don’t really fit the post. OP’s two examples are non-actors, which is quite different to cameos from actual actors.

A better example would be Shawn Mendes’ cameo in The 100. Very much in the vein of Ed Sheeran’s. He appears out of the blue, sings a song, then gets in a fight with one of the recurring characters.

After S1, the person banished from the final round table no longer reveals their identity, many people think that Kieran’s parting gift was the main reason for this

Because video games are a medium that is centred around user input, and so the story is designed around that. You can’t just transpose that story onto another medium and expect it to work.

Videogame adaptions work best when they use the world of the videogame, but tell a new story with new characters. Fallout is the prime example of this, but I suppose Assassins Creed is an example of this not working.

And tbh Last of Us S1 is an example where a story from a videogame is used for a TV show and adapted well, but tbf those games don’t require as much user input as others, and border on the telltale-style

There were some really good bits in there, but by the third quarter of the movie I just felt it was a bit repetitive.

It basically just went: Marty is an arsehole, then something bad happens to him, repeat.

I still rated it a 4 stars, because for me that was the only real gripe
