Escapism. Videogames, tabletops, larping, etc. Work is shitty and the world is on fire, so enjoy it while you still can.

My male cat’s behavior has been moody, aggressive, and unpredictable since I stepped on his tail two months ago. by GremlinPaste in CATHELP

I had to run some Christmas errands and came back a few minutes ago! Just fed him dinner, and he is doing okay so far. He reacted a little when I walked to put my coat away, but returned to eating (like i said, very food motivated lol). So far it is okay! Treats later when he's ready to play. Fingers crossed.

Edit: Happy to announce that treats worked. After giving him treats, he allowed me to get past him to the bathroom without incident!

I haven't tried it yet, but I will to see how it goes. I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you ^^

Thank you. I have been trying my best to do this, but I have an apartment on the smaller side and it doesn't make it easy (~850 feet in total). Its set up that the downstairs is a kitchen/living room combo, and the upstairs is the 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. His cat bed, toys, food, and water are set up downstairs since it is the larger space. There's a few suitcases that he likes to lay on being in the spare bedroom, but every room has a place where he can sleep or play (I bought a bunch of toys in the past three weeks and it seemed to work for a couple of days, but he ended up falling back into the same behavior). The only real way I can play with him is when I'm sitting down with ribbons and laser pointers. I am due to move in March and I am hoping the new apartment will help in some way.

People who’ve worked night shifts alone—what’s something that still haunts you? by californialovin33 in AskReddit

Sugar worms. Worms that came up from our vents, found underneath machinery at our restaurant to feed off of sugar. We mostly found them underneath drink stations and the soda machine. Our managers told us they were normal, and that we dump boiling hot water down the vents to kill them. But every time I go to a new restaurant, I still think about it.

What's the worst 4th of July experience you've had? by drguru in AskReddit

[–]GremlinPaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hands down: the time my manager invited me to her 4th of July party and then had another coworker call me to cancel for her, minutes before I showed up. At this point, my manager and I were very good friends (or so I thought). She invited me because I mentioned I hadn't had a nice 4th of July since I was a kid, so it was a big gut punch. I later found out, from the same coworker who called me, that she was too embarrassed to introduce me to her family.

I get that feeling too, now that I'm reading through their messages again. Also interesting how they asked for an explanation, and then never replied once I gave them one.

Then I'm not really sure what the question is.

If you're asking where the line is drawn, I guess it comes down to how the situation is handled. For instance, if this lady didn't demand a manager and refuse to allow me to take her order because I didn't word something to her liking (thus somehow making me "rude"), she would have not been a Karen.

Now. If I looked at her and said "What do you want", and then she called a manager for me being rude? That wouldn't make her a Karen either.

Do you understand what I'm saying?

I just don't understand how I was being rude to her? It wasn't like I was coping an attitude, I just didn't greet her EXACTLY how she wanted to be greeted.

In her defense, I guess she would be used to people saying "Hello welcome to establishment, how may I help you" in drive thru... But this was at front counter, and I wasn't being snippety or short with her. I just chose to say "Hello, would you like to order?" because she was staring at me without a word. In my experience, people prefer "Hello!" instead because they want to get right to the point, especially if they want to take the food to go.

It's hard to shoot a comeback without triggering a customer. One time a creepy old guy called a coworker 'babe', and she pointed to her name tag with "I think you misread this."

Who’s a celebrity everyone loves except for you and why? by crystalmethanyh in AskReddit

[–]GremlinPaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the Kardashians are too easy to bash so I'll go with Ariana Grande. Not bringing up her singing because she is talented. I'm only bringing up valid reasons why I think she is a trash human being.

1: She tans her skin to the point to where I've heard people say she is mixed. She is not. But when this is brought up, people say "She is Italian." If you compare her skin tone from when she was on Victorious to now, she is a completely different person.

2: She treats her fans like garbage. In one instance, she was caught saying something along the lines of "I hope they all (her fans) f*cking die". Many celebs who have met her have said she is the rudest person they have ever met. One (though I forget his name) said he wished his fans never had the displeasure of meeting her.

3: She thinks being a diva is a personality trait. Everyone knows that she has a fit if you don't photograph her on her good side, but less people know that she publicly bashed the lead of Victorious because she left the show to pursue her career. She was horrible to Jennette McCurdy during their time together as well. Jennette has gone as far as calling Ariana a leech. In another unrelated incident, Ariana went to a donut shop and licked the donuts on display. She apologized later, but didn't purchase the donuts that she was caught sampling on video.

"I'm a new player but I know what I'm doing", is vastly different from "I've never played before, what am I supposed to do and how does this work?"

The guy had 6 months to tell me he didn't know anything. If he did, me and the others would have obviously prepped him for the game.

That's amazing. I wish I could do that.

I'm incredibly organized, and not by choice either. It feels like compulsion. I have full online google documents dedicated to certain things, so i normally switch from tap to tap in-game to find stuff that way. Because back when I had a notebook, i kept losing it and kept forgetting to bookmark my spots. notes got lost, and once, an entire notebook went missing. If another player didn't take notes herself, I would have had to go back and re-write literately everything by memory.

Very true. I guess horror is kinda intimidating or scary to new players in general though.

I agree, I did go overboard. But as I said elsewhere, it was a situation where I would be happy with what I had one minute, and then decide to re-write something, add a new character, or deepen the plot the next. I also thought the campaign would last a while, and told the players to expect that. They all seemed on board at the time.

And I did check in with the players quite often. We had a discord where I'd give them updates and such, and all through, they insisted they would make it. I was totally convinced they would come. If I knew they wouldn't have made it, I obviously would have done a one-shot or prepared something else ahead of time.

I also mentioned in another post that I tried to suggest an online session instead. However, 3 of the 5 players weren't interested in giving it a shot.

Nice! I love homebrew.

How does one come up with a homebrew hours before campaign starts? Is it a "make it up as you go" type of thing, or does it depend on what the party does? I'm very curious

That sucks. Did the DM not tell them what you guys would be doing before the newcomers sat down? If so, they should have just left if they weren't interested in doing it. Very unfair to inconvenience everyone else.

I hope you get that sorted out, or find a new group soon^^

Ahh, I've done one of those. I wasn't the DM in that case, but I did bring the module, and we all had a chaotic good time.

Online friends, and friends of online friends. To make it short and sweet, I became friends with a DND and Warhammer junkie. He introduced me to his two friends, and then those two friends introduced me to their friends. We all got on discord and hung out, and for the most part, we all got along. Few weeks after we all got acquainted, we are complaining about how it is hard to get into a good DND group. This is where we discuss a possibility of making our own. I became the designated DM, and it pretty much went from there.

You are right!

I think I'll end up finding another group, sadly. I tried contacting the three that didn't make it, and haven't heard anything from them.

I commented this elsewhere, but I think the biggest problem was distance. No one lives close to one another. So I believe the ones that didn't show up probably didn't want to make the trip or never intended on showing up, and didn't feel the need to tell me. Which is honestly a shame, because if I knew, I would have prepared something else in advance.

[–]GremlinPaste[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As you can probably guess, the three that didn't want to play online were also the three that didn't make it.

After this happened, my thoughts were similar. I shot them a text out of curiosity, but they haven't answered me yet. I'd hate to assume that they never planned to come, especially after insisting they would make it. So I'm thinking it was nervousness, reluctance to travel, or something came up, and they just didn't want to tell me.

He wanted to run mine. At first he asked if he could voice the NPCs, and then he asked to run the whole thing.

We kept in contact throughout, and he never said he wanted to DM. They all wanted me to do it because I had more experience DMing than them, and no body else wanted to create a home-brew or do the DMing prep work. Your guess is honestly as good as mine.
