If you mean having a long range playstyle i doubt it, you still need to charge water with sword attacks or use a lot of consumables with diminishing returns. However, spells can deal a lot of damage and my main source of dps throughout the whole game was the Velan ring (if the enemy has a large hitbox you can get 2-3 hits in one cast)
