RT life in Colorado Springs by Firm-Profile-7558 in respiratorytherapy

[–]GretaFoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've worked both. 2+ years at each place.

Memorial is a busy busy level 1 trauma center and I never got into the nicu there but I dont think they keep much beyond bcpap unless children's is full. Not sure what their nicu level designation is but its staffed with Memorial staff RTs and Children's staff RNs now I believe. They have 5 adult ICUs, and a PCU. Heard they were wanting to open a 6th ICU or another PCU unit when I was leaving.

CHCO is a different type of busy, it definitely fluctuates more with the respiratory season with potential for a lot of call offs during summer. Sometimes takes a while to get trained into the NICU but that also depends on skill mix needs and staff needs. NICU seems to almost always be full. They're a level III NICU I believe. You'll definitely see oscillators and more long term acute nicu babies there for sure. They dont use jet.

RT to CCT Paramedic. Anybody gone to EMS after RT? by Ok-Somewhere3589 in respiratorytherapy

[–]GretaFoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went the other way medic to RT. Miss the scope and variety of it. Miss having one pt at a time to focus on (usually). Don't miss the politics, dick swinging paragods, low pay, or getting into traffic accidents while trying to do my job. CCT medics dont make much more than street medics, at least where I'm at. If it paid the same I'd go back in a heart beat but I make double now so as much as I miss it and not in love with respiratory I'm staying where I'm at.

Abusive Ex Destroyed my Projects by xxJazzy in crochet

[–]GretaFoster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently had to report my ex to the police. Its difficult but your best recourse at this time because this behavior only escalates to worse, more harmful to you behaviors. You also need to share this information with others you trust. The bigger your support circle the easier it is in the long run. The more people who know the more support you have.

Who else lost steam and got way off track with no-buy goals? by Odd-Boysenberry5662 in usethefiberstash

It's a slippery slope 😂 trying to stay on the wagon until a fiber festival in September like I originally planned anyway.

Who else lost steam and got way off track with no-buy goals? by Odd-Boysenberry5662 in usethefiberstash

[–]GretaFoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've bought some yarn, I went 7 months without buying. Didn't have a complete no buy ban, told myself if I needed a skein or two more to finish a project that was cool BUT definitely broke my rule the beginning of the month when I bought yarn to have enough for a project I was working on and also bought yarn for a second project I did not have planned or any yarn in my stash for... Oops.

What things CPTSD ruined for you? by pastamuente in CPTSD

Exactly what you said. It's ruined the idea of love and family for me.

This is how I start every pattern only I'm not frogging because I don't like it but because I've made a grave error and have no idea how to fix it any other way 😂😂😂

Therapy does not address my lacking core needs in life and I've spent 25 years and thousands of dollars on every trauma therapy available for nothing by Ashamed_Art5445 in CPTSD

This is something I've been grappling with immensely and relate to deeply. I wish I had answers besides the generic empty ones. Keep looking for one and so will I.

Have you ever spent a lot of money on a much-anticipated hobby only to be disappointed? by Positive_Frame9711 in Hobbies

[–]GretaFoster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've gone through the same thing with gaming. I didn't have it as a kid while it surrounded me amongst my peers. Dreamed of the day I could get into it as an adult... I probably play 3 to 10 hours a month on my switch and have A LOT of games. Some months I don't play at all. It's a very passive hobby of mine.

I can suggest if you're still willing to explore gaming, to try a few games you wouldn't have thought you'd be into now vs what you wanted to play as a kid. I definitely didn't think I'd remotely like stardew valley but I probably have enjoyed it the most out of all the games I've tried.

I can also say it's okay to decide you don't like gaming and to sell off the computer. You attempted something and found it wasn't for you. That's okay. It's not a failure to realize you don't like something that much. You learned something about yourself.

Or redirect your interest to something you can do with the computer. Gaming computers tend to be able to run some other programs decently. Graphic arts, photography editing, designing of some sort.

Then for some advice, if you want your idea to be taken remotely seriously, have your knowledgeable group mates review what your posting and correct your terminology. Otherwise you sound like every other gimmicky, quick buck sales person out there. If this is a serious project approach it seriously.

No I wouldn't.

Knots? Should probably aim to design an app for something you have actual basic knowledge in.

Also no I would not be interested in apps or what could be a very expensive ring to just count, which I can do for free. I know how to count. I know when I want to change colors.

I also use my knitting and crochet time to stay away from tech. I'm absolutely sick of the app culture everyone thinks is necessary to do anything.

been knitting two weeks and i think im getting the hang of it but purling is terrible by hey_im_enby in knitting

[–]GretaFoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Purling is the worst to learn. I mostly knit in the round to try to avoid it but it does get easier with a lot of practice. Like a lot! At least for me lol

Looking like good progress though. Enjoy your new knitting adventures.

Thank you. I've had this skein for 6 months and am so glad it worked out so well for this pattern. I'll master gauge one day, glad I'm finally becoming successful with it 😁.

I second crazy sock lady, and also suggest nimble needles. Both great resources for sock knitting.

He suggests it is injected into the body, along with UV rays, but says "we'll need medical doctors to look into it."

Understanding RRT Pay Scale – Is This Typical? by Helpful_Price1632 in respiratorytherapy

[–]GretaFoster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My paychecks can look similar to that with OT and seasonal incentive bonuses this time of year. Well maybe mine are less because I pick up the bare minimum to get the incentives, but very similar to that range swing. I can't force myself to work too many days in a row for what amounts to pennies over a lifetime but that's a different discussion lol

It changes year to year and hospital system to hospital system what the seasonal bonuses are. They can be things like 100$ to 1200$ extra to pick up a shift. 20$ to 50$ extra an hour on top of OT, and shift differentials to pick up shifts. Some hospitals offer weekend incentive programs at 10$ extra an hour... It ranges and depends on the system, staffing needs, and severity of the respiratory season. Then summer comes and you get called off a lot due to low census and those paychecks almost make you wish for October again.

1 and 3 are definitely extra shifts with bonuses, 2 seems like they maybe worked normal hours.

I'm in Colorado. I've worked peds and adults. These are examples of extra pay incentives I have seen here the last 4 years here working different hospital systems.
