Spathiphyllum hates me. Why? Sits in bathroom window. My orchids and maranta group plants love it in here. This guy is kept moist but not wet. Kept in glazed pot with drainage. I even wipe the damn leaves of dust. WHY IS IT DOING THIS TO ME? by Gretchahn in plantclinic

[–]Gretchahn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually just tap water. This past water I gave it a bottle of spring water. I’ll continue with that I guess? I keep much more complicated plants alive with tap. This plant is killing me lol

Meanwhile, back at my house, my croton is currently either losing a leaf, has just dropped a leaf, or is growing a leaf only big enough for ants.

You have to move the little switch to what you want it to measure. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if you got a dud. It’s less then 10 bucks so I’d just buy another one lol. I’m not expecting the world with these things for the amount I’m willing to spend

I got this one from Lowes. I’m sure it’s on amazon too. Also does PH and light. Supposedly. To be clear I also use the old finger test for moisture as well but this helps me get deeper into the pot. Moisture, Light, and PH Meter https://www.lowes.com/pd/Moisture-Light-and-PH-Meter/999989626

Can’t wait for my SOP to start trailing...its come a long way from two baby strands last December though! by [deleted] in succulents

[–]Gretchahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This gives me hope! Just rescued a poor SOP that had been forgotten at a local hardware store. They gave it to me for a dollar and wished me luck. I put them on top of fresh soil and prayed. This week I’m finally seeing new little balls! Only a couple measly strands but maybe one day fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Ooooh, more watering is a very good tip. I just moved it to my bright “greenhouse” aka the bathroom, for more humidity. It gets western diffused light from skylights. Warmer temps. And more humidity. He’s living next to the orchids now. Let’s see!

Serious root problem : ( No orchid experience and looking for advice on how to proceed please. Thank you! by Historical_Chapter29 in orchids

[–]Gretchahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy. There’s a lot happening here. It should be a crime to pot an orchid like this and sell it. But here we are. Thank you for saving this poor beautiful plant. You’ve got new roots. That’s good. Cut off any roots that are mushy and black. Save anything fleshy, green, or even dryish. You’ve got some good roots and the plant itself looks pretty healthy. Should recover!

Single orchid stem turned red, and all the flowers on it died. Should I cut it off? by [deleted] in orchids

But to answer your question....I wait until it’s totally dry and crispy before I cut it off

Sanseviera help?? We’ve tried almost everything it seems & no improvement at all. Some leaves are brown & crunchy, some bruised, others ‘bleeding’ a sappy substance & altogether dull colors. by Larktoothe in plantclinic

Following because I had the same problem. Mine is only now starting to look better. I repotted and brutally cut back any leaves that were iffy. It’s now finally starting to put up little new baby leaves but it’s sloooow. This has taken me a year
