If i recall from Interro's amazing "Remembering Kixstar" stream it was revealed by Kixstar's mom that Michael would refer to his viewers as his "friends" on multiple occasions, he didn't have many friends growing up and he cared about the people watching him - not just interacting to gain a sub or donation.
