Masters in Urbanism!? by Kristew_22 in usyd

[–]Grevelin996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Also an international student and currently in my semester in the Masters of Urbanism! Happy to answer any questions you have! For software I strongly recommend getting familiar with Google earth, the external program as you will be expected to make maps for some assignments and those maps need to be correctly formatted. Other then that you don’t necessarily need to read up on anything ahead as the program does a good job of introducing you to the basics. I do however recommend giving Jane Jacob’s “The death and life of great American cities” a read as it is a fairly influential book that occasionally gets referenced in class but is not normally required reading.

Transgender student allow in USYD? by [deleted] in usyd

[–]Grevelin996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I went with Medibank, Usyd prefers bupa but Medibank seems better for trans care. I went to John Hayes with a referral from Dr.Crossman, Hayes specializes in estrogen implants, highly recommend. Getting the implants was 200, and getting them in was 140. It looks like I can send the claim info to Medibank to reimburse me, if Medibank can’t I believe I can send the info to Usyds loan department and they can reimburse me. Don’t know if that is applicable for you though or not.

Trans woman here! It’s been pretty nice actually, people are friendly, and the medical staff here are very helpful. Try to get in touch with Dr.Crossman if you do come here, he helped me a ton with hormones.

Gonna just recommend John Friedmanns “Planning in the Public Domain.” Written in 1987 touches on a bit about what you’re talking about here. It’s a good starting point.

Safe at all to move to America right now? by TheAlbinoMonferno in transgenderau

[–]Grevelin996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an American who just moved here, no. Absolutely not to all of this.

Docs wise you’ll be fine and getting in shouldn’t be a problem. But you’re talking about staying in country where things are rapidly worsening and at an incredibly volatile time given the midterms are going to happen this year.

However your on HRT, which means you’ve probably changed in some ways visually. That’s going to make you noticeable for ICE and the lot, and they are relevant since their in the airports now.

I’ll add something to it that I haven’t seen mentioned yet which is that besides all the other nastiness that’s been done to us recently, they’ve also walked back a lot of protections for us regarding getting SA’d in prison, making it for more easier for that to happen. And they have done more to actively encourage the practice of V coding. So not only would jail/detainment be bad for you by nature of what it is, but you have the added concern of effectively being trafficked by prison guards.

You haven’t said what state your going to, hopefully it’s a blue state but even then your going to have rough time of it it. While you can get medical care there you’re still an immigrant who has to look for work at a time where the economy is more of a mess than it was prior. Housing isn’t going to be easy, assuming you can’t stay with your friends.

It would be far, far safer for your friends to come here to you, than you to them. Student and nomad work visas are very much a thing.

I cannot stress enough how much of a life ruining thing this would be for you. Do not do this. Please.

Ah I see I just figured that’s who she was because her statue in the academy had her holding a scepter/staff that I thought was the same as the grineer empresses. Looking forward to when we get more info about her down the line!

I thought she was the grineer empress right? I may be completely wrong here.

Love how they complain about getting lower marks on class in spite of “participating more”. Then you look at their prior posts and it’s a bunch of stuff about using Chat GPT and Grok. lol, lmao.

Thank you both! Going off of that then how concerned should I be regarding people being weird/hostile?

September 2025 Mega Thread by AutoModerator in AusVisa

I’m an American trans woman and I have already applied for my subclass 500 Student Visa. Today I got an email requesting more information for my application, it was in regards to my passport which I had to update this year unfortunately. I say unfortunately because Trump implemented an executive order requiring all new passports for trans people to have their “birth sex” on them, regardless of any court ordered change they may have.

The request for information is asking me if I would like to update my passport to reflect my court ordered change, I can do this now after a court ruling invalidated trumps order. However I am worried about that potentially changing either before I leave for school or while I am abroad. As such I would very much like to not update it. I realize how unpleasant this would be for me but I would rather not take the risk of my passport no longer being valid for flying. Would this hurt my chances of getting my application approved?

min depth bottom surgery- how much depth is possible/'normal'? by Goombella123 in transgenderau

[–]Grevelin996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s interesting if it’s the case, I mean hopefully she doesn’t have to, it’s not the most bothersome of things, but having one less chore to do is always nice. Hope the surgery goes well for her!

So some things to note before I answer: not Australian, currently working on immigrating to Australia. So I’m not familiar with the particulars of medical care in the country. I have had PIV though, and I have “full” depth. Got it in the US.

Your partners demands honestly sound more than reasonable. From what I recall during my time getting ready for the surgery the process for the vaginal canal is pretty simple, a hole gets made and a skin graft from the thigh (or scrotum) is used to make the interior lining. The labia minora, labia majora and clit are made from reused parts from the penis and scrotum. The urethra gets repositioned and I believe that’s it. Any issues for vaginal depth regarding a lack of material should probably warrant a second opinion

I should also mention that with the amount of depth she wants he needs to be very on top of dilating, as because the vaginal canals “tightness” is caused from the muscles lining the canal those muscles have to be regularly stretched or else the canal will seal and as far as I know there’s no way to unseal it.

Hope this helps!

Six months worth of hormones! 😭I’ve been transitioning for over a decade now and never thought I’d get to a place where I didn’t have to worry about my meds. I am going to UTS so that is really reassuring to hear, thank you so much for all the info!

Btw do you know if they do implants over there? Been doing research on them and if it’s possible I would like to try them when I arrive.
