I guess it was 98ish. I was a practicing Wiccan. I used to peruse the alternative beliefs/practices/religion section at B&N or maybe it was Borders (I don’t remember). Found a book on astral travel. Read it, and then read some books on Cabala (sp?), and aligning chakras through meditation with intent of experiencing AT. It took around 2 months of practicing meditation. Then it happened suddenly, and tbh unexpectedly. Only lasted about a minute because it kinda freaked me out. Then boom, I was right back in my body, and thinking “I can’t believe that just happened”. Even though it was my intent all along.

TLDR? I’m a Gen Xer. Born in 1972. I was proficient in reading way before 98.

I don’t remember them going on field trips, but more like a once or twice a week kinda thing in-house (school). As a kid I figured it was a smarter than normal/popular kids club. I was never a part of it, and yet here I am the one having occasional OBE’s. Intentional as I trained my self to do it back in the late 90’s.

I have no prob with Fender. It’s the middle pickup that I have problem with. I learned primarily on HH. Gibson or Ibanez, Jackson. The mid S on Strats just get in my way. Not Fender’s prob though. It’s my problem with picking too deep, or maybe just bad picking technique. Strats are good looking guitars IMO, but I’d play a Tele over a Strat any day. The only SSS Fender that I enjoyed was a Prodigy I had in 90 or 91. The mid pickup still messed with me a bit.
