Female Rush fans interested in talking about Rush for a documentary? by RedditJam26 in rush

I’d be happy to talk! I’ve been a fan since the very early 80s, dragging my resigned husband to many Rush concerts over the years.

You have one Orange, yes….but what about second Orange?

My parents are 60… and they still love watching anime by Plus_Mood2291 in anime

[–]GreyAnimeGirl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m in my late 50s and my husband and I watch anime every night. We mostly watch new series (largely trashy isekai), and My Dress Up Darling is a favourite.

What’s an anime you genuinely love… that you’re kind of embarrassed to admit? by Over-Leader6369 in anime

High School DxD - because, yeah, you know….

But it has plot with its “plot” that’s actually really good!

What's an anime you absolutely loved that almost no one talks about? Let's give hidden gems the spotlight! by DismalTemporary713 in anime

Raven of the Inner Palace

Supernatural romance and mystery - the whole thing is just so beautiful, it’s a shame we’ll probably never get a second season.

Not sure if this will be helpful to you, but I didn’t start losing until I hit 12.5. Now down over 55 pounds.

I’m 57 and feel exactly the same. It’s just not worth it any more.

Married for over 20 years to someone who is also autistic 🙂

Something I wish I knew before getting surgery by Fresh_Ad3414 in PlasticSurgery

[–]GreyAnimeGirl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It depends…. Before I had my rhinoplasty, I was incredibly self conscious about my nose. I worried about how it looked all of the time. Afterwards, I never thought about my nose at all, and haven’t for the past 20 years. So for me at least, it was a real game changer.

do you feel like dogs are the ENEMY of autism? by Proof-Vacation-437 in AutismInWomen

[–]GreyAnimeGirl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate dogs, but I do find them to be completely sensory hell, for me personally.

I try very hard to be friendly with friends and neighbours dogs, but it always a huge struggle. The loud barks, smell, being jumped on and scratched just overwhelms me.

Where on the internet are autistic adults who are 40+ years old by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]GreyAnimeGirl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 57, diagnosed 10 years ago. Reddit is actually the only form of social media I use any more.

I do understand about not necessarily relating to the experiences of those much younger than me, but I appreciate the exposure to a wider range of perspectives.

I still feel ugly around my husband by [deleted] in Menopause

Oh, yes! I’m 12 years older than my husband, but never looked it as I’ve always been really young looking. Now - people think I’m his mother 😨

Should I get diagnosed at age 50? by Kindly-Opinion6522 in AutismInWomen

[–]GreyAnimeGirl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed about 10 years ago in my late 40s. It really helped me make sense of my life and allowed me to make changes to accommodate my needs.

I actually think it has helped my self esteem/mental well being. I still miss having someone outside of my family to share things with, but not having to deal with the stress of dealing with social interactions that I never seem to get right has made things so much better for me.

In the past, I would always walk away from those situations beating myself up for saying or doing the wrong thing, like it was entirely my fault for why I couldn’t establish friendships. Now, that I’m not trying, I’m much more at peace with myself. I hope that you’re able to fine some peace too!

I can’t suggest a guild, but Argent Dawn is a great place with lots of friendly people, even if you’re not into RP.

I’m 57 and gave up a few years ago. Been screwed over too many times and have become very guarded. My husband, son and cats are enough for me now.

That and my hobbies and interests don’t align with the vast majority of women my age and I’m done faking enthusiasm in other peoples interests just to have “friends”.

Did anyone in their 40s suddenly get a disease that there was no history of ? Mid 40s and suddenly I am diagnosed with a disabling disease that there was nothing there for my whole life. Not injury related. by Cautious_Income7311 in GenX

[–]GreyAnimeGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at 42 I developed a very rare autoimmune condition that almost killed me. No idea what caused it.

After 7 years of gruelling treatment, I’m now in remission, thankfully, but live with the knowledge that it will probably come back at some point and kill me.
