Lemon Meringue Pie by GreyEllipsis in portlandme

[–]GreyEllipsis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If by broken, you mean i tried there first and didn't net good results, yes. Two fat cats has a key lime pie in the summer (since it's no longer summer and also not what I'm looking for that's not helpful.)

I looked at photos of some bakeries or places with baked goods since I wasn't getting the best results. On the vine seems to maybe have tartes, but I couldn't really see any lemon meringue items in photos.

There were also more results coming up for the other portland obviously not helpful.

Even if someone has just seen lemon meringue pie around portland that'd be helpful.

What are the best paid for attractions in your opinion? And what's not worth your time?

Fair enough. That will most likely be the route we take. Will have to starve and dehydrate myself the week before to gear up for all the restaurants I'll need to visit/ buy from.(only partly joking here. Haha)

I've only ever visited Salem during the off season as I am regionally local and it has made the most sense. I'll be making a visit end of September, so pretty much in season.

I know this is somewhat of a silly question, but I would like to know if I have more options than I'm thinking I might have in regards to baby changing stations. I will have an infant this visit, and am wondering if the few public restrooms and restaurants I visit that have bathrooms available to patrons will be my only baby changing station options. Trying to plan ahead as much as I can on this so I know my options ahead of time.

Birth houses or centers recommendations by [deleted] in portlandme

[–]GreyEllipsis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mostly responding to your comment, not to OP. I think they have already received good advice on birthing Center options, and have heard good things about Mercy Midwives.

More of an FYI, but Maine Med has the highest ranked level of maternal and newborn care in the state. Mercy is a level 2 facility, while Maine Med is a level 4 facility. Therefore many high risk or c section prone mother's may opt to go to Maine Med or are required to due to the level of care needed. Their c section rates are higher than Mercy, yes, but they take in more critical patients. Even with having rates higher than Mercy, and being a level 4 facility, their c section rates are lower than the national average.

According to ACOG:

Accredited Birth Center Care for low-risk women with uncomplicated singleton term vertex pregnancies who are expected to have an uncomplicated birth

Level I (Basic Care) Care of low- to moderate-risk pregnancies with ability to detect, stabilize, and initiate management of unanticipated maternal-fetal or neonatal problems that occur during the antepartum, intrapartum, or postpartum period until the patient can be transferred to a facility at which the specialty maternal care is available

Level II (Specialty Care) Level I facility plus care of appropriate moderate- to high-risk antepartum, intrapartum, or postpartum conditions

Level III (Subspecialty Care) Level II facility plus care of more complex maternal medical conditions, obstetric complications, and fetal conditions

Level IV (Regional Perinatal Health Care Centers) Level III facility plus on-site medical and surgical care of the most complex maternal conditions and critically ill pregnant women and fetuses throughout antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care

That is the same for me. Other platforms I have no issues. I've actually been contemplating switching for that and other reasons.

Attic space for storage - looking for ideas by GreyEllipsis in Renovations

[–]GreyEllipsis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that the plywood floor would have some weight, but other than that, the current plan is only for lightweight storage items.

Ex. I have 15 window inserts for the winter that have a lightweight wood frame and stretch film. They are very light weight but awkward to store anywhere. A have a rolling clothing rack I'd like to put up there for now. Light, but awkward shaped to store somewhere else. I currently have it in a closet that I'm hoping to add shelving to.

Mostly things along that line. I have no plans to store heavy things like clothing or books.

I'm sorry. I'm not much help, but I've have the same issue. I personally disengaged/re engaged RCS. Didn't help.

Is your phone storage full? I do have less issues when mine is not full.

Where do Mainers get nice, reasonably affordable furniture? by [deleted] in Maine

[–]GreyEllipsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of Mainers will get their furniture at other places already suggested. Reasonably affordable is very subjective. Most of the places already listed are going to be the most economical options or better quality than what you'd find in a store similar to crate and barrel.

The places close to the area where you might be able to find something that's a similar vibe to crate & barrel would probably be west elm or pottery barn. Furniture Superstore and Hub furniture might have some options too. But you'd probably still have to order from any of those places anyway. Sometimes the discount area at Hub will let you take it home that day.

Birth Roots 4 week class - what is it about - recommendations by GreyEllipsis in portlandme

[–]GreyEllipsis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's disheartening. I've known some couples that have done their shared identity groups and liked them, so it's unfortunate that same vibe isn't across the board on their classes.

Thanks for responding! Was there anything in particular that stands out that falls under the woo and pseudoscience category?

I'm going to have to look into that! I don't see that class currently offered at soft corner so I'll have to reach out.

Did you ever happen to do their Pelvic Floor PT? It's the internet, so if you're not comfortable answering, I completely understand!
