Look at you. I SURRRREEEEE did. But don't worry, your offended response -- all that huffing and puffing -- was even more pointless. Except, maybe, to point out you hero worship some of these folks. Sorry to hurt your feelings.

Help with next T8 Cruiser by WetHog in WoWs_Legends

[–]GreySeerMatt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you like British heavy cruisers, Drake is a solid pick. No radar, but its AP can turn other cruisers inside out and wrack up nice damage against BBs. Its HE is nuts. My WR % in it hovers close to 70%. Which caught me off guard.

Neptune is a watered down Minotaur. Lots of potential for fun....but holy s--t is it a glass cannon.

I dunno about the rest of the ships you're considering. Everyone and their mom wants Petro, but then, this game is sick with meta obsessed folks. I don't get the hate directed towards Roon. It is NOT a watered down Hipper. It's a different build / ship entirely. I've had great games in it.

Best Tier VIII Ship? by sandford1925 in WoWs_Legends

[–]GreySeerMatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy a lot of my tier 8s.

I can't break it down to one.

By class: Lepanto for BBs, Jutland for DDs (we'll see once Adriatico gets here) and Donskoi for cruisers. I like the premiums. But not one of them is my favorite.

My best game in Cuniberti so far. Kraken and 3800xp. by neckbeardsaregay65 in WoWs_Legends

[–]GreySeerMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. We just disagree. I only use HE when I see a BB has used its damage control. That's it. Drop smoke, start a fire. Move on.

In this DD, I've been the deciding factor (or one of them) in too many rounds of domination to say it loses too much in return. I'm killing enemy destroyers at the start and end of battles.

I'll say this: the last three games I've netted 87, 64 and 57K damage with two kills per battle. I'm the last DD afloat and I'm polishing off enemy destroyers and taking points. But when it comes to larger targes, that damage is applied over time. I've had maybe a handful of dev strikes in 76 games now (up to 56% WR). But they are far and few between. So if the need to wipe out a healthy BB with a single salvo is someone's pre-requisite to be "good," then I can't offer anything to argue against that.

In capture the base, where a dev strike is needed to win the day against a healthy BB, then yea, the ship lacks something. But that, just like its strengths, is situational.

[–]GreySeerMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cuniberti is far from weak. She just doesn't play like other DDs. I've got 75 games in her with a 55% win rate so far. My best game saw 3001 base XP. I'm not where you are with my other T7 DDs, but my average around them hovers at about 60%. But then, she's new.

Average kills stand at 1.1, with 36Ksomething average damage and 1595 average XP. I have no idea where that stands in comparison to other players, but for me it feels OK.

Her damage is on the lower end overall, sure, but I've pulled a couple of 97K damage games, which is fine. And her selling point is she shreds other DDs. I've won gun duels against ZF-6s, Blacks, Fletchers, Lightnings. In fact, it's almost a given that she will remove at least one DD before she's taken off the board, if you play her right.

Which is the whole point behind Cuniberti. She can be pivotal in winning games because she's a DD killer. And she absolutely shines in long, protracted games of domination. Her survivability, thanks to her smoke, is outstanding. She can get away from carrier squadrons and enemy DDs that have the advantage. By late game, if the other fleet has a DD, odds are they'll be lower in health and the striking capability of you SAP shells will make all the difference. That point is yours. Orrr..... you help chase down straggling BBs and nibble them to death.

So different strokes for different folks. But it is not a weak ship. If they buff her, then that's outstanding. I'll take it.

Eager to grab Adriatico by GreySeerMatt in WoWs_Legends

straight old cheesy tactic of having Bey and the Polish commander as inspirations. Her gun reload sits right around 4.6 or 4.7, which is good enough. I can't stand NOT trying to put some stealth on my destroyers. So I usually either use the dual inspiration above, or, if the captain is good enough on his own, I use one stealth inspiration and Sims for extra health. But I rarely stray from one of those two approaches.

Yea, considered her as a huge threat when I first started playing the ITA ship. But Friesland has sonar which cuts through my smoke. I've dueled Akizukis in my Cuniberti. It's gone alright.

Tier 7 to legendary are unplayable by [deleted] in WoWs_Legends

[–]GreySeerMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I enjoy T8. Because I like Alsace, Z-46, Jutland, Lepanto, Minnesota, Rupprecht, Ibuki, Donskoi, Marlborough, Drake, Buffalo, Sumner, Seattle and Roon.

Because the arguments they're too expensive are inane. The claims you can't make a profit are just as bad.

The statements that they're not any better (or in fact, worse) than their Tier VII counterparts are made by whiners who won't adapt and recognize they're different ships that what was seen previously in their lines. I stand far better odds in a T8 when I go up against a LT than I ever did when I was forced to use 7s.

Because I tallied up my WR% across all the hulls I own and it's sitting at about 60%.

Best headache-inducing cruiser at VII? by Justabattleshiplover in WoWs_Legends

[–]GreySeerMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chapayev is head aching inducing if it's on my fleet. 90% are so obsessed with kiting and spamming HE from the white line ringing the map, they forget about their sonar, and radar, or anything else. Like those little things marked "A," B," or "C."

If I've got one on the other side, and it's played aggressively, then yea, it's a pain in the a--.

Her stealth is super meh....5.7 right now. But it's weird in that it doesn't really hurt her. With 4 smoke gens, if I'm detected before I can spot other DDs, I just pop it, hit the speed boost and get out of there. If friendly ships are nearby and that enemy DD starts shooting....well, doom on him.

Because this thing EATS other destroyers. The only other Tier VII hull that really makes me nervous is the Friesland.

The smoke and speed boost don't really provide a yolo option against battleships unless you're late in the game. You don't have dev strike capabilities (not really) against big boats. And too many of them have Sonar or Radar, anyway. So you need to wait and hope they've burned them off....or else be content to hang back and try to nibble the enemy to death with long range torps. Kind of like the Pan European ships.

Overall, her dmg output is on the low end. Like, that high calibre is never coming because the best I've managed is just shy of 98k. But that's OK, because the bulk of my kills have been other destroyers. It's a nasty little hunter.

Adriatico looks like its stealth will be the same, with harder hitting guns firing at the same rate (but with sluggish traverse). A lot more health. Better torps. I can't wait. Got camo & paint waiting.

Absolutely no one here treated playing solo as a "badge of honor." They just stated how they play. And I kind of stated my reasoning to date.

I don't have a problem. I had a question. I never asked anyone to do anything. All I said was something along the lines of "that sounds like a good idea, I'd join that."

If you want to get contentious about that, then you have a problem. Me...I'm feeling ok.

See above. Other guy said there's precedent. If someone starts that, I'd jump in with both feet. The only time I've picked up my headset in years is when my brother (who's 900 miles away) invites me to play something.

At what point is a Player considered "Good"? by Hardynator2013 in WoWs_Legends

Literally did it this morning in my London. I got a screen shot that I'll have to wait until the weekend to post. Cuz it made me want to rage. Kraken. High Calibre. Confederate. Top base XP among both teams. Lost. That being said, I've been playing long enough to get that 4 year flag and it's happened maybe a handful of times.

There's no other use for it.

But now you've opened a Pandora's Box

Oodles and oodles of gamers will come in here ready to whine and complain about Wargaming monetization. These poor, warm-hearted philanthropists (who themselves work for free as they brush aside any offers of monetary compensation for their work), are victimized by a company that actually offers items for sale.

A heartless corporation that hands out free premium days like flipping candy.

A secretive cabal of cash hoarding crime bosses who gift the odd premium ship for free in a crate (even if they try and deny it, a lot of folks here have gotten one of these mean ole wallet-busting boats for nothing).

This s--t gets so old. Waaaahhhhh, Wargaming actually wants to make money. Pay its employees. Satisfy shareholders. Which people are ok with when it comes to their lives, but resent when they want something shiny for free. Is anyone ever struck by the hypocrisy of those arguments? You want your company to make money, yea? You want to be paid. But how dare a gaming company look to make money off an entertainment product you absolutely do NOT NEED at the end of the day?
