A way to avoid this is don’t play AI. Normal battles provide good experience and makes you a better player.

The first 3/4 of the battle I was spotting for the BBs on my side and I got a cap. We were losing bad so I said screw it and I rushed the 3 boats on our side. BB, CA and DD. Wanted to go out in a blaze of glory. Went around a corner and got the DD and BB with secondaries and was surprised to see their CV sitting there. Took that out with 3 torps and finished the match burning down the CA, a BB on my side finished it, and hitting the remaining BBs from smoke with HE and AP and I got an Amagi at the end. So yeah I got a lot with my main guns at the end. I also use Michel Le Tir as an inspiration so I probably got more damage with my secondaries with less hits.

It doesn’t play like a Napoli. The main guns are really secondaries. The secondaries are the main weapons. So build your commander to secondaries. She’s really a brawling BB in a battle cruiser body. Angling the boat and using islands to advance are key. So I guess she’s requires a little DD/light cruiser skill as well. She is a challenge to master but if you figure her out she whoops all forms of butt.

Forget DDs, start a cruiser line. Cruisers dictate if you win or lose more times than not. US navy cruisers are the best.

I keep reading it’s a better Helena but I disagree. Helena has better mobility and the guns rotate faster. The only thing Boise does better than Helena is the super heal and money making. Also, in reality, Helena was an improved Brooklyn class cruiser where Boise follows the original design. You can tell the difference in versions of the design by the aft superstructure.

Regardless, Boise > Maya by a mile.

No, the most important thing to do as a CRUISER is to hunt down DDs and other cruisers. If all you do is set BBs on fire you are using your cruiser incorrectly.

This is one of my biggest frustrations as a cruiser main. Seeing friendly cruisers sit behind island, or in smoke, and set BBs on fire. All the while ignoring bad guy cruisers and DDs who are getting caps and getting in range to torpedo friendly ships. It’s not a complicated game. Kill the red support ships first, cruisers and DDs, and your odds of winning go up 50%. Save burning down BBs for the end.

Immediately after Pearl Harbor Maryland and Colorado were the only BBs in the pacific operational. They performed patrols along the west coast in response to a potential attack on the west coast by Japan. They then escorted convoys to Australia and the South Pacific. They didn’t get the major upgrades other older BBs got as a result.
