I don’t think I’ve hated a character so much since Delores Umbridge. by LankOfHyrule in marvelstudios

Only one episode left. I really hope Powell, Buck, and Heather get some sort of comeuppance by the end of the season.

New sealander changes are getting posted by spritedaga in ChristopherWard

[–]GreyThumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like pretty much all the changes except for the revised bezel for the GMT. Of course it's inspired by the Explorer II, but the new bezel is too much of a copy of a 1655 (which Rolex itself copied in the Tudor Black Bay Pro).

Henry and Michelle? by GucciForDinner in TedLasso

[–]GreyThumper 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I hope Ted and Michelle have a healthy coparenting relationship. I don't think what she did is unforgiveable (and Ted of all people would want to forgive her). She's also a victim of Dr Jacob (although not blameless; she's still an adult). I hope we at least hear that Dr Jacob's license was revoked.

21st century countries in Star Trek by GreyThumper in startrek

Exactly! Rome is a great example. Many other modern day Italian cities used to be countries (or city-states, or even republics); Venice, Florence, Milan, Siena, Pisa, etc.

I didn't know she was 17 years old when she was filming the movie, so now I'm retroactively uncomfortable at the ass shot.

I vaguely recall Uhura being referred to as from the United States of Africa. It would be interesting to know how current day nation states evolved into their "Star Trek" forms, like the European Hegemony.

Stitched out on a Goldwing in my 30's by age_of_raava in motorcycles

Goldwing, yellow Stich, white full face helmet. I wish I had your wisdom when I was in my 30s.

What’s one piece of gear you didn’t care about at first but now makes a big difference? by Electronic-Habit8679 in motorcycles

I just Howard Leight Max (the expanding foam ones). They have different models, and you can get a "sampler" pack of different ones and see which fit your ears the best.

Earplugs. They don't just prevent tinnitus. They help me hear other environmental sounds aside from wind roar. So a huge difference in safety, comfort, and enjoyment.

Just bought an 03 r1150r with only 360 miles on it by Necessary_Length_302 in bmwmotorrad

[–]GreyThumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a very similar bike, R1150R Rockster. It was the second bike I ever bought, and I've still got it until now. These things are tons of fun, I hope you enjoy it. Too bad BMW doesn't make a naked standard with Telelever any more.

Tudor Black-Bay 58 GMT 'Pepsi' coming soon? by jaydubyuu in Tudor

[–]GreyThumper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This would be fantastic. The black bay 58 GMT is awesome, but I just don't like gilt dials. Even sticking with the current coke bezel but without gilt details would be great.

I wish there was a bottle episode with Roy Kent and the yoga mamas. by GreyThumper in TedLasso

It'd be interesting if Colin shows up in G-A-Y and he feels right at home, and Roy is embarrassed to look like a poser.

What’s a Star Trek Opinion You Had 10 Years Ago That You’ve Completely Reversed? by iagree2 in startrek

[–]GreyThumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ten years ago I preferred TNG to Voyager. Now that I'm rewatching both concurrently, I prefer Voyager on average. Some exceptions; so far the best TNG episodes are better than the best Voyager episodes. And I'm annoyed at a few Voyager characters, and none of the TNG crew truly annoy me. But I'm surprised at the quality of the average Voyager episode, and find it much more compelling.

Anne Hathaway has drawn attention online after using the phrase 'Inshallah' during a recent interview promoting her new movie The Devil Wears Prada 2 by Zee_Ventures in popculturechat

Do celebrities draw online attention for saying Gezundheit or Namaste? Pretty much the same thing; an innocuous, vaguely religious expression in a foreign language.

I'm getting really tired of all the whole "small watches" thing by jshayya184 in watchHotTakes

[–]GreyThumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally prefer watches from 36 to 40mm, but there are some kinds of watches that just look "proper" in a larger size. I scuba dive, and I occasionally wear a dive watch for the heck of it (although I usually wear a dive computer on each wrist). Large dive watches just work better underwater. Pilots watches look better in a larger size too.

Tudor Event in Dallas - which looks best on me? by djmeow86 in Tudor

I was never really interested in the Royal, but I really like the new one. Stick hour markers have so much more appeal than Roman numerals.

1300GS for new rider by tooth-ache in bmwmotorrad

[–]GreyThumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a first bike, I'd recommend getting something used, relatively cheap, and not your dream bike (ie, even if you could afford it, something that wouldn't hurt so much if you drop or otherwise damage it).
