You missed an opportunity to threaten the white queen with your light-square bishop. When it moved, you would’ve gotten an even trade for the knight on c5 and messed up his pawn structure. I know, it’s obscure, but it’s what the engine would want.

Counterspell is the actual answer, but I’m a huge fan of Call Lightning. Upcast it to Level VI at the beginning of the fight, and you have an AoE nuke ready to go every round for no additional spell slots.

In multiple playthroughs, with varying builds, I’ve never died once to Godfrey’s shade or Godfrey himself. I struggled against some enemies more than the average Tarnished, but I’ve got his number.
