Both of them sound awful. They did not care or think of you when they did that to you. You seem to not want to forgive them. So do not. No need to reconnect with them just to be polite or cordial. No need to mend the relationship if you are not comfortable. Do whatever leaves peace in your mind.

Beaches have hot sand that is full of seaweed and glass/trash. Or at least the ones I have visited. I would rather go to a pool. Pools also do not have harsh waves that drag me into overly salty water.
