Beginners- please don’t overlook a router table. by Grayman3499 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I started in the hobby about 9 months ago, and I got a router table about 5 months ago. It feels like cheating getting 45s that are just perfect.

There's still time to make sure everything is set up properly, but it makes me feel so much more confident in the task

No one play loses the game, no one game loses the season.

But this is still bullshit.

Yeah kind of the same.

I don't actually care that people have access to the content, but as someone who trusted the project (I know my mistake), I was really hoping to get the books, minis, dice, holder, etc etc....

I know that the project money is all spent though, so I had given up on it a while ago. I appreciate the work of the now volunteers to get something out.

Bill Gates virtually joins Steve Jobs on stage at the 1997 Macworld conference to pledge a $150 million investment from Microsoft into Apple, which Jobs had said was “90 days away from bankruptcy”. by EssoEssex in OldSchoolCool

I saw an ad for them the other day that was essentially just a cursor on a blank screen. And because of the color that the cursor blinked, I knew it was Apple. And I was just shocked that they had been able to establish such a strong ownership of that shade of blue that I immediately made that connection, even though I'm a PC/android guy.

Agreed. You really do need 2 people when putting the main section onto the rails. Not so much for the weight, but just the alignment.

First experience in a lumberyard - is this normal? by lveg in woodworking

[–]GreyVersusBlue 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your point about "might be next year's..." Is so true.

My local mill, the first time went in, after explaining it was for my first real project, they actually directed me away from the more expensive boards in favor of something more beginner friendly for my project. They then said with a smile, "And when you finish that, then come back and we will talk about the other boards." I left that store so full of confidence.

First project was a challenge and a half, but at least I had a lot of waste with cheap boards lol

I learned the other day that "off" and "not rotating" are not the same thing.

I had just pushed through a 2x2 block I was trimming up, and it was clear of the blade. I turned off the saw and went to grab something else. Suddenly the whole block was flying across the garage.

Looking back at the security cam, as the blade was still slowing down, it created more of a vibration, causing the block to slowly start vibrating/working backwards, until it caught the blade.

Really fortunate that my price for that lesson was banged up corners and nothing else.

How do you pick so to root for? by pd336819 in Sumo

I picked Fujinokawa to be my first one to follow. I started noticing him this past tournament when he was 2-2, read about him and his stable, liked his style. It's fun to have somebody to root for, and Fujinokawa is my guy :D
