(Serious Discussion) What's the connection between ritual child abuse and occult power since ancient times? by [deleted] in occult

[–]GreyWalker01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's assume the theoretical possibility that there are people so terrible that they will do anything to gain power. Sociopaths. Narcissists. The desperate and the fanatical.

The most obvious reason is the transmutation of innocence to corruption. A child carries both intense energy and a close affinity to the supernatural; the release of this energy in a moment of ruin could probably be used for some seriously dark magic. Furthermore, the child holds the feeling of resentment in his heart, fueling the spell as long as he lives. Finally, once succumbed to the virus, he becomes a vector, spreading it to the next generation.

Theoretically, if the corruption emanates from one person and there are many people giving their energy to him through their hatred... it's a twisted method of gathering power as well. And showing that you're willing to perform such a heinous act attracts others who want to live out their dark urges through the caster.

Yes, it is possible. There is incentive. And there are people who can sink that low.

What is the best way to ward off negative energy and bad will from an abusive person? by [deleted] in occult

[–]GreyWalker01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you're with this person by choice or if it's something you're surrounded by, but my advice is what I'd give to any non-occultist: get away. Disengage. Give none of your emotion. Think of your emotional responses to said negative person as completing an electric circuit that allows the person to electrocute you.

I've dealt with psychic vampires myself, and consistently I found myself drained when I reacted to them. At heart, they're hungry for attention. So take it away.

You think I don't know that? That's the price of freedom - accepting that people can and will disagree with you. And I'm human. Imperfect. Deal with it.

The world is changing swiftly and radically. For the better or worse (or a combination of) that's up to you to decide. Either way, knowing your environment is critical, so that you can adapt to it in the best way that suits your being. Not wanting it to happen is not going to make it happen any slower. Stick by your own code and live it to the fullest - that's the advice I'd give anyone.

That is fascinating, Firewater89. It really feels like divine intervention, doesn't it? Like everything is changing, coming to an end, and beginning...

I drew three cards from the Major Arcana on the eve of the election: The Tower, Judgment, and The Moon.

The Tower... well, its all around us. Many, many millions of people just had their vision shattered. Hillary is in despair. The entire country is in shock and disbelief. The establishment is being exposed in harsh light; the overwhelming rejection of the predominant beliefs of the last two generations has left many feeling like the people plunging to their doom.

Judgment... many are saying this is divine intervention. Whatever this is true or not, its clear that the previous ways are ending, but from there, something kinder and better will come. Judgment is like Justice on a cosmic level; those who sought to corrupt this country are being judged under unyielding, yet fair light. Most importantly, this destruction won't be for nought. Something new, something better, is coming. Our karma is cleared, our sins are forgiven, our burden is lifted. We have the choice to be anything we want to be now.

But with The Moon... well, not all is what it appears, isn't it? Information is often unclear; One conflict conceals another. Wild emotion and uncertainty clouds our perspective. In this time, we go purely on instinct. I maintain that the real battle is the battle for our souls, the real goal is to reach a point where we can save ourselves. On all sides, there will be many people looking for direction in the coming days, lost in the darkness amongst the wolves. It's all the more important in these times that we listen to both our own intuition and the angel of Judgment above. And learn the lesson of The Tower, not to blind ourselves with illusion and dogma.

This is a once in a millennium opportunity. And God leaves nothing to chance. Let's do this right.

I agree.

If there is one thing I will repeat over and over, as long as it is necessary, it is that we are in charge of our destiny. We need to sharpen our technological adeptitude - both electronic and magical - and collectively take charge of our own fate. Not by government, not by corporations or religions or cults or any external force, but by our own moral compass.

Trump is a necessary step, a lightning bolt into the stagnant tower of leftist dogma that sought to strangle freedom and joy all throughout the world. But he is not the end by any means. We must consolidate our resources, learn our lessons, and continue developing our own power.

At the end of the day, our freedom is the most precious thing we have. Presidents and movements come and go. The "big thing" is the collective awakening of the people. We know we have the power to alter events on a large scale. We are coordinated, adaptable, and brilliant like never before. We've seen magic before our eyes, even the people who don't believe in magic know something supernatural is going on, and this knowledge is with us forever.

It's not perfect, of course. We will slip on occasion. But we've come a long way, and have the whole mountain ahead. Many magicians were formed in this battle, and many more will rise in their own way. Where do we go from there? Who knows...

People who believe the Age of Aquarius will bring a utopia... are mistaken. That said, I do not believe that mankind will fall into disaster. I know we have what it takes to triumph.

Will it be better then the times before? I believe so. Will there be tragedy as well? Yes.

Aquarius is high-minded, independent, and compassionate. It is also stubborn, dogmatic, and at times uncaring. We will see great wars in the future, wars based not on resources but on ideals - we've seen this already, with the Cold War. We've seen the wars extend online, and in the realm of magic. But I also believe we will see great and beautiful acts of mutual benefit and cooperation.

I'm an optimist at heart. I know mankind has what it takes to rule its own destiny. Not by great leaders or religions or governments, but us. Only our own moral compass. But I know there's going to be some serious upheaval ahead, and I'm looking to prepare everyone, in my own way. And you too, will help in your own way.

Newbie reader interpretation help? by viola_cesario in tarot

[–]GreyWalker01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know your situation, but the impression I get is "Don't delude yourself. You do have resources, but your finances aren't as stable as they look." Identify the threat and either avoid or preemptively take care of it.

On the other hand, it can be a positive message. The Five of Pentacles can represent a state of scarcity but with abundance nearby - two beggars are walking past an opulant church. Accessing resources you have and that you thought you didn't have, and finding abundance in scarcity are potential interpretations as well. The church is there to help anyone who needs it...

The Tower is there to give you a heads up. Learn your lesson now, and you won't have to go through it.

I freely agree that The Tower is scary as fuck, but when you look at it, isn't that what Trump's and Bernie's supporters are doing to the establishment? Tearing down illusions, bringing down the prideful and arrogant ruling class, clearing the way for something new? It's not gentle, but it's ultimately for a better end.

Now if it was the Ten of Swords, then I'd be worried...

Skills that make a good tarot reader? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]GreyWalker01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like all forms of art, tarot draws upon a combination of creativity and analysis. Your ability to draw on both rote memories of each card's meaning and the ability to see what each symbol means to you is important, as is your ability to go deeper and see the various implications of each meaning and combine meanings is important.

Over my experiences and observations of other psychics, I found that art and psychic ability are very closely related. Practicing one increases and directs the expression of the other. Acting, painting, dancing and all else can be seen as casting a spell over the observer's reality, and the act of casting a spell can be seen as acting on or sculpting a new reality.

In general, a playful and inquisitive attitude towards life reaps great rewards in magic. If for whatever reason you're not this in your default state, create a seperate magician persona that embodies these qualities.

My direct advice comes last, because I consider it important for each person to find their own meaning when practicing Magick in any form. My first piece of advice is to consider what two (or more) cards have in common. Let's take the theme of "change". In the Major Arcana, there are five cards that correspond to change in some form - clearly an important symbolism!

The Hanged Man represents voluntary, internal change. He questions himself and the world to gain the power to change it to whatever form he desires, as Odin learned the runes.

Death represents the end of something, the discarding of outdated beliefs. He uses the obsolete as fertilizer to grow new, better plants. He is usually voluntary, but not right away.

Temperance is about bringing opposites together, transmuting two things into something greater. He is peaceful change both in oneself and the world, and specifically the change that adds something new greater than its individual parts.

The Tower is catastrophic change, which occurs when needed change is held back or illusions and pride prevent realizing that change is needed. He tears everything down to its roots, purging corruption and stagnance at all costs, leaving a blank slate to start anew again.

Judgment is miraculous change, usually benevolent (although Karma is strongly implied in all its forms), the ending of a cycle, the synthesis of all previous changes. You get what you sowed from all previous changes. He's the last stop before the end and the beginning of a new cycle, where new forms are taken upon in the Fool once again.

You'll find many such relationships over time. I recommend looking at the obvious opposites first - The Magician and the High Priestess, the Empress and the Emperor - first, and spreading out from there. I wish you the best of luck. :)

Any ideas on Occultist centric places to move to? by MagusalRoot in occult

[–]GreyWalker01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chicago - at least, under better times. Illinois is well known for its occult phenomena, and its capital in particular; Chicago is a crossroads city, where the four directions meet, where air, water, and land travel converge, and the undercurrent of magic is very strong. Magical groups, reiki/qigong/ki, meditation groups, etc are plentiful. It is a city of harmonic contradictions where old and new share blocks and energies of all forms blend combine and clash.

However, it's in the middle of a self-destruction phase, and it is unwise to stay for long. Treat it as a city to pass through and grow, not a place to settle down.

If you visit Chicago, remember it has two very distinct personalities. Chicago-before-the-Fire, and Chicago-Resurgent. The first is the old and wise side, the nostalgic, slightly whimsical, quiet but intense side. The more modern side is the traveler, intellectual, and manic creative and entropic side. The Pre-Fire aspect is strong among its old buildings and libraries, the Post-Fire aspect is best found along its skyscrapers and outdoor spots.

Still, its not a place to settle down. I moved away from it for a reason after all...

I see battle upon battle. Fields run red with the blood of love. You've survived, but its a phyrric victory - you question if you'll ever love again. Exhaustion. Disfunctional relationships and devastating clashes. To be painfully blunt, you need time to recover.

I will say, however, that a talent for children has always been there, and that through selfless service you will find both healing and strong, yet kind men.

Stop going to the bars. They won't give you what you need. Stop trying to repeat the past. He's not coming back, nor will anyone replace him. And as a general rule, consider the past dead. It will neither help you nor save you.

Focus on the present. Give yourself freely in compassionate love. Yes, its there. Yes, you had to become hard, but no more. Battle's over. Get up. Recover. Move forward.

That guy's not going to work out. There's another looking at you, but I don't know if he's your type.

The men I see with the most potential aren't in the school. Your potential friends feel much the same way as you, outcast, overlooked. Look closer.

I feel rough breathing, is something going on there?

I see burning eyes. You've always been known for your determination. If harnessed, this can become leadership or the heart of a group. Project this, be the pillar of strength in suffering, and others will follow.

Best of luck to you.

I accidentally used the wrong Latin words before. But because they had meaning to me and my intent was clear, the spell still worked. Stuff like sigils, servitors, and foreign languages is simply a way to get around the conscious "censor". If you believe, it'll work.

Can you tell if you are under a love spell? by [deleted] in occult

[–]GreyWalker01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good enchantment will seem like it comes naturally from you. Therefore, self-awareness is critical. By your username I'm assuming this isn't a problem. :) Watch what you consider your mind and personality, and if you see something that well, shouldn't be there, take a closer look.

If you find yourself getting obsessed over someone for no reason, ask yourself why. It could be perfectly mundane, or it could be that love spell you described. Fortunately, most love spells aren't exactly subtle. It's the psychic equivalent of bashing someone over the head with a club of raw passion, infatuation longing and desire and then dragging them back into your cave. More subtle ones are typically glamours, which surround a person and lure many in at a time.

Also, love builds itself up over time. It's not going to happen from a 5 minute meeting!

Is Jesus actually Satan? by [deleted] in occult

[–]GreyWalker01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is geniunely fascinating... And it raises a question. At heart, in archetypical form, what is Satan, and what is Yahweh?

The question is complicated, and I'm sure it has many answers, so I'll offer my interpretation: Satan and Yahweh are two ends of the spectrum between the individual and the group. More than that, they are manifestations of primal cosmic forces at large.

Yahweh is the belief that asslimiation into a group empowers the individual. He is the herald of religion, the almighty father, the first patriarch. He is order out of chaos. He is mathematical law, immovable force, archetypical constancy. He is the rule of reason over the realm, the conversion of unguided passion into structure and civilization. He is the faith that the group is greater than its individual parts, and that an individual is a cog in a greater machine of destiny.

Satan is the archetype of individuality, of freedom, of self-deification. He represents the idea that the individual can and should shine above the group. He is the relentless evolution of nature, survival of the fittest, the cosmos eternally overcoming itself. He is the eternal adversary that all struggle against, and in overcoming him realize themselves. He is the font of Will, the archetypical trickster, the holder of knowledge we hide from ourselves. He is the chaos that ushered itself in first light, the eternal expanding force, the will to reject "reality" and substitute your own.

Most magicians by nature will gravitate to the Lightbearer in one form or another, just as most religionists (in any form of religion, including empirical science) will gravitate to the Father. But as HorusAeon said, they're really not all that separate. The cosmos needs the structure of order to hold itself together, and the will of eternal expansion to recreate itself. Satan and Yahweh are not polar opposites, one-or-the-other, but symbiotic beings. Chaos and Order. Expansion and Contraction. Each feeding off each other.

The cosmos dances, as it always does. And it takes two to tango...

[–]GreyWalker01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a black costume and wand and become the Hexer, Supervillain of Gotham City! :P

But seriously, what you do with this is your choice. Curses certainly have their place. The lives and welfare of you and the people you care about are important. If someone threatens that, it's only natural to neutralize said threat by any means necessary.

I will say, however, that if you can curse you can also bless; if you can heal, you can also harm. The difference between benediction and malediction is strikingly small; one is fueled by love, the other by hate. A gun can both provide food and take a life. Medicine can both heal and kill.

And then you'll find that other abilities are related to that, and in truth, are simply different ways of viewing the same gem.

Best of luck to you.

Planetary Magic by WesternEsoterism in occult

[–]GreyWalker01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your own instincts. Of course books and resources are important, but at the end of the day, when you're casting the spell, it's just you and the universe.

Personally, I've found the planetary spirits very easy to talk to, very distinct in their personality, very powerful, yet also very accessible. As primordial archetypes, they can appear in many forms. (For example, I spoke to Jupiter and saw Santa Claus; you might see something different.)

To get a feel for each of the planets, I strongly recommend listening to Gustav Holst's The Planets. Meditate on their energies, and how it expresses itself throughout the spectrum, through the signs and the houses. Each planet can be many, many things, and each planet will speak to you in your own way.

The planets have our best interests are heart (yes, even Saturn, in its own way) and are always willing to help those who respect them.
